I can't really remember what is in the DV kit in terms of weapons etc.

Fill the gaps, AT etc.

some cultists, that epic hellbrute model, chaos lord with sword and plasma pistol, and then 5 chosen with assorted weaponry.

id probably get a box of chaos space marine, a rhino, and then pick a fun unit within your budget. id avoid a flyer for now, but like say havoc, or raptors, or some specialists (noise marines, khorne beskerers, plague marines, thousand sons) or some other piece you think would be good ( predator, moar cultists, defiler, etc.). the idea here is to build up the core basics (troops, transports) while finding a path you want to expertise in (more melee, more magic, more tanks, etc)
