Upgrading respirator/painting-mask help?

I own a fairly low budget painting-mask, which protects against dust and organic vapours. I bought it for painting, but it has proved incredibly useful over the years for a multitude of other noxious tasks. Everything from cleaning the oven to exploring mouldy bomb-shelters. Once it even proved invaluable for putting out a fire in the kitchen. Yesterday, however, the head-strap broke. So it's probably time to say goodbye and invest in a new mask.

I thought I might upgrade to a full-face mask (mainly to improve the seal and comfort). I wanted to ask anyone who has had to wear one of these on a regular basis (perhaps at work or in the army): what are full-face masks like with regard to things like comfort and vision? And what difference does it make having centre, side or dual mounted filters?
