The only problem now is that its quite pricey now, near enough £40 for one crusader squad without neophytes?

The basic 10 man tac box is a good deal. You get a lot of marines, and tons of bits and options. If you want to run them with BP/CCW, you might need to mix up a box of assault marines. The BT upgrade sprue has some, and you get one in the tac box, but that might not be enough for large armies.

Technically the 3-pack push-fit marines are cheaper on a per body basis. But you get no options.

If you want the other bits, the strikeforce is one of the few discounts GW offers. Works out to about $24 for 10 tactical marines if you buy it from a discounter (30% bundle discount + ~25% discounter discount) and you can generally sell off the kits from it you don't need ie. doubles of SM commanders or command squads. If you find you need more melee weapons, you can pick up multiple 5 bolt pistol + chainsword arms for $1-$2 easily.

If "best" option includes best looking, you can mix bits of other kits in there such as DA vets whose robed bodies look great for a lot of things and are quite fitting for "crusaders" if you cut off the small amount of DA symbols imo. You can also mix in vanguard or sternguard squads to bling them all up a bit. I'd disagree that SWs are a good idea in bulk for BTs as the SW kits have lots of SW detailing that isn't very BTish imo.
