1750 First Time Grey Knights

Just purchased a bunch of grey knights and im not really sure what is competitive or what with the army. I just threw together a foot slogging termi list and figured
you guys would school me up on what is winning with the GKs these days.

Grand Master ( Psycannon, Halberd, Blind Grenades, Melta Bombs)

Grey Knights Terminator Justicar ( Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Psycannon Deamonhammer)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)

Grey Knights Terminator Justicar ( Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Psycannon Deamonhammer)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)

Grey Knights Terminator Justicar ( Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Psycannon Deamonhammer)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)

Grey Knights Terminator Justicar ( Deamonhammer, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Psycannon Deamonhammer)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)

Grey Knights Terminator Justicar ( Deamonhammer, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Psycannon Deamonhammer)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)
Grey Knights Terminator (Halberd, Stormbolter)

Dreadknight ( Doomfist, Heavy Psycannon, Greatsword)
Dreadknight ( Doomfist, Heavy Psycannon, Greatsword)

That comes out to exactly 1750.

Like i said i have NO experience with Grey Knights and this is just a termi heavy list i whipped up with Army Builder. Advice on list build and tactics helpful. Also most of the model are NIB so i can model them however. Just
wanted to get advice before i actually built anything. I also have 50 regular grey knight that i can build as anything as well.

Well what I see as competitive GK are units of 10 marines with duel psycannons in a rhino *6 for troops. For HQ 9/10 its Coteaz because hes 100pts and fantastic, but GKGM can bring the pain too.

So without any further to do I recommend:

1) knights need heavy incinerator personal teleporter and sword only, if you have points and nothing else to spend them on the gatling psliencer is OK, just useful for forcing wounds and grounding FMC.

2) the terminators are OK if you like it, if not you already know what to arm them with. Either way squads of 10 with max psycannons and psybolt ammo are good,

3) the GKGM is normally at his best with ALL the special grenades and a halberd and psycannon.

Hope this helps, and if your thinking of running a paladin unit take 10 with 4 psycannons brotherhood banner, psybolt ammo and FnP dude, and throw the GKGM in there and deep strike them and kill whatever has Ap2 or S8+ templates.

It's good to have a mix of NFWs in your units, especially some swords as the 4++ is pretty useful against other Termies and MCs.

GK Terminators have been taking a hard beating since there's so much AP1/2 flying about these days. A unit of Eldar Guardians can effectively wipe a Termie squad, with their psuedo-rending. Flying DPs will get the assault on you, and just wipe a whole unit in one go. Intercepting Riptide will kill your DSing units before they even have a chance to do anything. Dev Cents will ruin your

You should buy 10-man units with 2 Psycannons each, and then combat squad the units, putting both psycans into one group. This will allow your psycans to target the heavy armour, and the SBs to gak infantry. Much more effective than wasting whole units of shooting to get one psycan to shoot a Dread or Wraithknight (ie. targets that bolters can't even scratch).

How are you planning on delivering these guys to the battlefield? Walking Termies is a terrible idea. On boards where you can rely on terrain, your units will be super-slow. On boards where they can move freely, there's no cover to rely on when that Crisis Plasma Team nails you.

The core of any good GK list (not Henchmen) is two GKSS. They will have max psycans, and Psybolts if you can afford it. Preferably, they will be TL by an Inquisitor.

The other fantastic units in the codex are the Dreadknight (which you've already figured out), the Psyfleman: 2xTLAC with Psybolts for 135pts, and the Vindicare. While these are all expensive, single-model units, they are all worth the cost. Take an ADL to get some cover saves, too.

The H.psycan on the DKnight is pretty terrible compared to his other options. Consider a Teleporter and an Incinerator, and that's it. Or, to save even more points (although it will make him less effective), skip the teleport and DS him into play. He'll not assault till T3 (instead of T2 with the teleport), but he won't get shot T1.

I'd also recommend against putting the daemonhammer and psycannon on the same guy...That just makes losing that one model kill both your shooting and your AP2 CC ability.

Keep that model in the back, and both your valuable toys are safe (except from Deadshot). Since he's in the back, he'll be the last to die from shooting, which ensures that your Hammer makes it into combat.
