I just picked up the Crimson Slaughter supplement and it goes on to say that the Crimson Slaughter participate din the 13th Black Crusade, and makes no mention of Kranon's death. Admittedly I haven't read the entire thing yet, but couldn't find anything about him dying in the timeline pages.

I also read somewhere that his death was just a premonition by a Dark Angel librarian, and it has not yet passed.
