Cephalyx Overlords -- Please help (AKA How to bend metal without breaking it.)

Is there some trick to assembling these guys? The pictures all show the arms extending from the back at an angle (see the reference pics below--both right servo-arms and both left ones are each a single piece) but the ones I have are all straight. Do they come this way? Do I have to bend them? They're very, very slender, and I'm worried about breaking them...

Is there some trick to bending metal while lowering the risk of snapping it? Alternately, if there's something I'm not considering here, please let me know.

Wasn't familiar with the model in question, but a Google image search suggests that they do come straight. Looking at finished examples, most people only seem to be adding a ~20 degree bend, which the metal should handle just fine.

White metal is quite malleable, but it work-hardens very quickly. Have you ever dropped a metal model with skinny projecting parts? They don't usually snap upon landing, but when you try to straighten them back out. Don't know enough to go into the techno-babble about grain structure, but I'm quite confident that they won't snap at shallow angles under hand pressure, unless flexed repeatedly.
