Now I am living somewhere with a large amount of fellow gamers. My questions is, what army should I choose?

I used to play space marines, but I want to build into something new. My plan is to avoid any Space marine army, so no wolves, blood angels, dark angels, or chaos.

Well, the army choice depends on you I guess, are you looking for some uber killer army that wins always? If so I don't think one exists it is just how you play your army in each game IMO. So just go for the army you like the best is what I would do. If it boils down to looks, or kits ,number of infantry or vehicles then just grab the codex of wach and check them out.

I actually chose these off of watching some videos of them, reading each codex (I read every single codex) and based off of looks. These four made the final cut, however, I might go Eldar and Dark eldar and use the ally system. But if the new codexes come out at the end of the month I will probably wait until then. Is a new starter set coming with the new codexes? Regarding army choice you should go for an army that you like the look of and the fluff. if you like the idea of humans go for imperial guard, if you like big bugs go tyranids.
