I've recently returned to 40k after nearly 15yrs away and I want some advice on my army. I'd prefer to use what I've already got, rather than rushing out to buy 4 serpents and 3 Wraightknights

I'm most likely to come up against Tau and Necrons as these are what my friends have.

Current army list -

26 Guardians with 2 support platforms
8 Dark Reapers + Maugan-Ra
9 Swooping Hawk + Baharroth
10 Dire Avengers
8 Striking Scorpions + Kandaras
3 Warp Spiders
6 Rangers
1 Vyper
2 Falcons
5 Guardians on jetbikes
5 Wraithguard
Wraithlord
Eldrad
Avatar
Farseer

I've played through a few ideas but I reckon that's around 2.8k-3k in points if I took everything and added some addition wargear, although I doubt that would be legal due to all the HQ units

I'm likely to be holding battles around 1.5k- 2k points.

You have a good model count for starting up again, but what is your theme? Or what craftworld do you like?

I love the Saim-Hann army colour scheme but as some of my army is already painted in the Ulthwe style I'll try going down that route.

I've only played 1 very quick 1k game vs Tau so far and sadly we ran out of time but I love the idea of Scorpions in WS (falcons) and jetbikes ripping through his weaker troops in Assult.

I'm thinking I'll often want to take Farseer on jetbike + 4 more jetbikes.
