Minor Xenos In Imperial Space

I'm taking part in a Rogue Trader game and the GM has given me permission to play as a homebrew Xenos from my sector project.

The character is Humanoid and can pass for Human if they're careful, though it is likely that they will end up getting the Sanctioned Xenos trait at some point. Until they received the Sanctioned mark I suspect things might be interesting for the character if something went wrong whilst on an Imperial planet, so a few questions come to mind.

*What sort of treatment could they expect from the Arbites since technically they aren't an Imperial citizen?
-On a related note, would an indentured servitude brand make much of a difference?

*Would the Inquisition take much of an interest in a small and minor Xenos species, especially if an Inquisitor came aboard the ship?

*Possible that some Imperial Nobles, organisations like the Beast House from Dark Heresy and perhaps even a Magos take an interest in the character? Perhaps even enough of an interest to either recruit or capture the character?

Unless he has some serious clout protecting him, you can pretty much assume that he'd be gunned down on sight by anyone with a weapon, Arbite or otherwise.

The Inquisition would also be all over that. Ordo Xenos most likely.

The last one is very unlikely, unless your character can do something truly amazing. This is not a world where some alien is seen as a possible ally, it is a filthy xenos and should be purged unless there is an exceptionally good reason not to.

A Rogue Trader is technically serious enough clout to protect his crew against unwanted attention, as long as the Arbites don't have anything really serious to go on. The xeno had better have all papers in order and not offer any lip though.

The Inquisition would certainly have a look if they heard about it, but Rogue Traders are some of the few Imperials allowed to deal with xenos. As long as the RT is the one giving the orders and the xeno the one serving an Inquisitor would likely ignore the situation, especially if it's some minor species that poses no threat to humanity. Just don't be too buddy-buddy with the humans in case the Inquisitor decides you're manipulating them.

Depends on how "humane" your xeno is. If you are like the "xenos" in Star Trek (so effectively a human with random aesthetic differences) than you can walk around undisturbed because others will see you as an abhuman and not as a xeno. I think small things like a back-jointed leg or 6 fingers on the hand is OK too, but you will need good Fellowship/Deceive to pass inspection.

And this pretty much stands to everyone. So even an Inquisitor will just see an interesting abhuman as long as he isn't meeting you on the dissection table .

Some particularly backwards worlds will burn people at the stake for witchcraft because they dare possess comm-beads. Being a Star Trek "human but with blue skin" is no guarantee of safety in the Imperium. Many, many worlds do not tolerate ab-humans at all.

A Puritan Inquisitor may be from a world similar to the ones described above, and may throw this Xeno onto the pyre along with all the Ratlings, Ogryn, Imperial Beastmen, Squats, and regular Muties that he can get his hands on.

So be very, very, very careful about who you go showing off your alienness to!

Minor Xenos In Imperial Space

1. If you grovel enough to the Arbites and have your proof of Rogue Trader protection on you, you probably will get away with nothing more than a few warning thumps. Arbites are top-of-the-line professionals and will enforce Imperial law in preference to local, and a Rogue Trader's Letter of Marque is one of the highest forms of authority short of an Inquisitor's seal.

Local magistrates, on the other hand, could be very very dangerous for you, but unless you have good intel on local culture there's no way to tell whether you'll be ignored or persecuted. You probably want to spend as little time as possible out in the open on Imperial worlds, and if you can disguise yourself as human when at all possible.

2. That depends almost entirely on the Inquisitor. A Puritan Inquisitor of any Ordo is going to have it out for you, so your best bet is to just try to stay out of his way. He probably has more important things than you to worry about. A moderate or Radical Inquisitor of any Ordo but Xenos is not likely to care. A Radical Xenos Inquisitor is probably going to want to investigate you rather thoroughly. Ultimately this is more of an issue for you and your GM to work out in the name of storytelling.

3. It's entirely possible, but once again this is something you and your GM should work out.
