Dwarfs VS Dwarfs

Greets All:
I'm toying with the idea of having a game of dwarfs vs dwarfs, not the Chaos variety, just a straight up "grudge" match. One warrior from the other clan insulted on of my clans maidens...Around 2,000 points, 8th Edition, new Dwarf Book. I've yet to find a battle report or any other description of such a confrontation.
Sort of planning a mix of:
Lord
Thane BSB
Engineer
Warriors - 2 or 3 units
Longbraerds - 1 unit
Thunderers 1 unit
Miners 1 unit
Ironbreakers 1 unit
Cannon - 1
Organ Gun - 1
I'll have to play around with the Runes etc.
All based on the models I have available from GW,Marauder,Harlequin,E-M4 etc etc
No horde type units, an average of 20 figs per unit.
Even the Dwarf Book makes no mention, that I've found, of such a clash.
I'm coming up against a very seasoned Dwarf player, and this will be the first outing of my own pure dwarf force.
Thoughts? Comments?
VonGamer

Re:Dwarfs VS Dwarfs

I think you're exaggerating Belegor's weaknesses. Sure, he only does a -1 modifier to armour, but with all his re-rolls he can do a lot of wounds. in fantasy it's much harder to get a decent armour save [compared] to 40k, so a decent of amount of wounds will be going through saves. This is practically likely since Dwarves have no access to cavalry, this means that Dwarf HQs can't ride a horse for a 2+ save.

Was that good enough for you kiddies?

Re:Dwarfs VS Dwarfs

Greets Again:
Reading the recent comments this post.
I'm disinclined to go with a named character. Belegar at 305 points to start eats a big chunk out of a 2,000 point army. With a generic Lord I can field another unit of something.
But then again, it is my usual gaming style/preference to focus on core troops.
Originally I started with 3 cannon, then switched to 1 Organ 1 Cannon. The cannon mostly to function as a sniper long range.
My opponent seems to like block units with characters imbedded, Units of about 24/30 troops - 5/6 wide. I think he likes to sit behind cover and let the opponent come to him.
Seems to prefer CC types. A "Montgomery".
My gunline won't be the deciding factor. I may try to advance them early to get in range ( about a 48" deep table).
My instincts are to be agressive, maybe draw one of his units out of his line by focusing shooting upon them.
The miners for the flank/rear surprise. Maybe...
Besides that, charging with dwarves (ok dwarfs) might be the less expected tactic.
Thinking about throwing the troops in repeatedly. I don't expect high morale dwarfs (OK dwarves) to break too often.
And showing up with dwarves (OK...) might have had him waste protecvtion from spellcasters.
He prefers not to share army composition lists until on the table during deployment.
Matters not to me, I just play regardless who wins...(Just add another Grudge)
Regards,
VonGamer

If your definitely playing against Dwarfs then the Anvil of Doom could possibly even be useful.
For starters you know they won't have any wizards and he won't be taking and magic defence.
Runelord on an anvil is a very defensive lord option and hard to kill. Definitely left field and not something your opponent will be expecting.

I have read a couple of Batreps with dwarf on dwarf action, one was a gun-line vs strollaz and the gun-line dominated.
It wasn't a total hardcore gun-line army but the point is that shooting superiority definitely won the day.
