				<title>First Battle CSM vs. CSM (No pics, sorry) </title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Had my first game of 7th ed vs. a great opponent (not his first game).<br /> <br /> My list:<br /> <a href="http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/596719.page" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/596719.page</a><br /> <br /> Flames of Spite for my Warlord trait (never even got to use it).  For my Powers I got 'Sensory Overload' (Default), 'Hysterical Frenzy' (Slannesh), and 'Invisibility' (Telepathy)<br /> <br /> *BEFORE you say anything about your opinions on the legality of this list, my opponent AGREED to let me play, even <u>after</u> a passionate debate on the very subject.  Oddly enough, the bonuses gained had nothing to do with the loss.  A further credit the the great sportsmanship of my opponent was that not ONCE during the game did we debate, mention, argue, discuss, etc. the issue.  We left it completely out and &lt;gasp&gt;, had a GREAT time!<br /> <br /> His list: (Battle-Forged)<br /> Chaos Lord, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(100);'>MoN</span> various goodies (Some other equally useless Warlord trait, even with the Re-roll)<br /> Nurgle Sorc ML3 - Nurgles Rot (Primaris) Plauge Wind (Nurgle) Life Drain (Biomancy), and Warp Speed (Biomancy).  <br /> 2 x Plague Marine Squads - Rhinos w/Destroyer Blades<br /> 5 Chaos Bikers - <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(100);'>MoN</span>, 2 Plasma Guns, Pfist<br /> 3 Nurgle Chaos Spawn<br /> Predator - All Lascannons<br /> Heldrake - Baleflamer<br /> <br /> Standard Deployment, no Night Fight.  I Deployed first.  We got the 'Stealth' Maelstrom mission, but since my opponent didn't have a rulebook, and neither of us has the Cards yet, we just played the first mission which is essentially the same thing w/o the hiding the Objectives.<br /> <br /> The first thing that should be obvious to comparing these two lists is that he only has ~30 models, to my 60.  Sorry I don't have the exact numbers on the squads in the Rhinos.  So even w/o running all the Enhanced Marines he had an uphill Battle.<br /> <br /> <u>Turn 1</u> <br /> Fabius:  Failure to Seize, I went first nothing exciting.  One of the Havoc Squads landed 'Skyfire' for his Mystery, Fabius Squad got 'Grav Generator'.  'Invisibility' went off on Fabius squad, which was helpful since that unit was staring down the bulk of his army.  I Killed two Spawn, and put a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(661);'>HP</span> on the Predator.  The Khorne squad ran and unlocked 'Sabotaged', which can be pretty mean now if you haven't read it.  Score 1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span> for controlling the 'Sabotaged' Objective.  My other 2 Objectives were to take Marker 4, one Seize and Control, and the other one was Secure and Hold.  I dropped one since this marker was kind of out of the way and on his side (Mistake 1). <br /> <br /> Nurgle: His Lord squad uncovers a 'Skyfire Nexus', while the Spawn finds a 'Scatterfield'  Perils on 'Life Leech' giving him the buff for a turn, but Invisibility means he missed.  Predator Killed 1 Havoc.  Nurgle Bikers kill 1 guy.  All attempts to assault fail because both the Bikes and the Spawn are 10" from Fabious squad and he's sitting on the 'Grav Generator'.  So he opts to not assault to give me any 'Overwatch' shots.  He Scores 1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span>, and Drops 1.<br /> <br /> <u>Turn 2</u><br /> Fabius: Fabius moves to assault the Bikers.  The Khorne unit moves to assault the Spawn.  Sorceror moves to be able to cast on either/both of these units.  No Powers are successfully passed.  Shooting kills 2 Bikes, he opts to not Jink off the Plasma.  1 wound put on the Spawn from shooting.  Havocs took out the Predator for 'First Blood'.  The unit nearest to Marker 4 is out of Range to Rapid Fire the Rhino carrying his Lord so decides to run for it.  They roll a 6, managing to reveal yet another 'Skyfire Nexus'.  Fabius fails to assault the bikes with an abyssmal assault roll.  The Khorne unit takes out the Spawn, then consolidates onto the 'Scatterfield' to score me that <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span>.  This also scores me a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span>, which would've been 2 if I had KEPT the other one.  It was replaced with 'Witchhunter' which I chose to drop at the end of the turn. (Mistake 2)<br /> <br /> Nurgle:  Heldrake shows up and works with the Chaos Lords squad to reduce the unit on Marker 4, since it was now one of his Objectives.  Cunning plan, he decides to 'Tank Shock' onto the Objective to try and secure it with the Rhino with 'Objective Secured'.  I don't stand and just move out of the way, he ends up being 1/2" short from claiming the objective.  The Sorc unit also gets out of their Rhino to face the oncoming Khorne Unit.  He successfully casts 'Life Leech' which I throw all my dice at to DTW and cancel, 'Nurgles Rot' doesn't work, 'Warp Speed' does go off.  The Khorne guys not in cover die.  <br /> <br /> Assault yielded some fun results.  First, I managed to score 2 wounds, 1 with Plasma and 1 with a Bolter on Overwatch, killing 1 of them.  He issued the Challenge and Fabius accepted.  Fabius failed to kill the Champion, and my unit didn't cause any wounds on the bikers, even with the S5.  His Power fist caused 2 Wounds, which inflicts <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>ID</span> on Fabius giving him 'Slay the Warlord' and because of the new Challenge rules took another guy with him.  Then my Powerfist inflicts 2 Wounds, taking both the last biker, and because of the new rules, the Champion with him.  This act earns him the favor of the Gods and he is immediately elevated to a Demon Prince.  <br /> <br /> He doesn't score any <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span>'s and elects to keep them all hoping he can get them next turn.<br /> <br /> <u>Turn 3</u><br /> Fabius:  Both the ex-Fabius unit, the Khorne Unit, and the Sorc unit all move in the direction of  his Sorc unit.  The Demon Prince headed toward the Objective since it was too crowded for him to also get at the Sorc squad.  The 2nd Havoc Squad gets lucky and rolls a 6 to move out of terrain, which barely puts their <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(5);'>AC</span>'s in range of the Hell Drake.  Both 'Invisibility' and 'Hysterical Frenzy' (get +1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>Str</span>) go off on the Fabius unit.  The shooting eliminates 2 of the models from the Sorc squad, and I put 1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(661);'>HP</span> on the Heldrake, even with a Havoc unit having Skyfire.  <br /> <br /> The squad on marker 4 just assaults the Rhino and kills it.  Both the Khorne unit and the ex-Fabius unit make contact with the Sorc unit and wipe it out.  What is interesting is while the Khorne unit needed 4's to wound.  I only rolled four 4's, the other 5 wounds were 5's and 6's.  So for fun we rolled the 4's separate and he didn't fail any of them, so being enhanced didn't make much of a difference here either.  Same thing with the ex-Fabius unit.  With both buffs, they only needed 3's to wound.  All but one of the wound hits were 4+, so if I was running this as a normal list with restrictions, then the outcome would've been the same.  His Sorc with Warp Speed just didn't do anything.  <br /> <br /> I score 1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span> for killing a character, and again, I would've scored 2 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VPs</span> if had kept Witchhunter.  I dropped the 'Kill a Building' objective since there were none.<br /> <br /> Nurgle:  Heldrake goes after the Havoc squad sitting on the Skyfire, Chaos Lord goes after the unit on Objective 4.  The Sorceors Rhino decides to Tank Shock the Demon Prince to get at the Objective.   Demon Prince decides to stand, allowing him to get the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(1);'>2D6</span> S4 hits, and the only puts 1 Glancing hit on the Rhino.  He then gets crushed by the Rhino.  (Yes, we know about it now, and had a good laugh!)  It had ZERO impact on the game.  No Psychic Phase for obvious reasons.  The Chaos Lord squad kills most of the unit on Marker 4, leaving me with 1 Plasma and one normal Marine.  The Heldrake manages to kill most of the Havocs, leaving me with 2 Autocannons but they're not near the objective to claim it.  Because of the wrecked Rhino in the way, the Lord squad fails to charge the last 2 on Marker 4, which he needed to get the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span>.  He then makes his 'It will not die' roll to restore the lost <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(661);'>HP</span>. <br /> <br /> <u>Turn 4</u><br /> Fabius:  2 Objectives ended the game at this point.  I rolled 'destroy a vehicle', and 'If Mysterious Objectives are used, get a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span> if they're all revealed'.  The unhurt Havoc squad put 2 Glancing hits on the Heldrake which he failed to Invul off.  The Plasma gunner on Marker 4 with Skyfire finished it off with 2 Penetrating hits on the rear of the Drake, which he did 'Jink' then failed to get either of those.  The fate of the Rhino was sealed with the 2 Meltaguns from the Fabius squad just turned around.  Psychic Phase rolled a 1 for the lulz, but I managed to get the Primaris off with a Perils causing the wound.  <br /> <br /> With the 2 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VP</span>'s I got, my total at this point was far more than he could catch up, with his one unit, on foot, and only 2 models in range to do anything to by the end of the game.<br /> <br /> Nurgle:  He shook my hand.  Then admitted it was a fun game.  To further praise the character of my opponent, he ALSO said, after this game that he would allow my 'Unbound' army anytime until they <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(36);'>FAQ</span> it!
