Like, for khorne it seems rather obvious. The inquisitor shows up in the room where the ritual was taking place and finds the room carpeted and wallpapered with blood, gore dripping down from the ceiling, clear sign that bloodletters showed up and horrifically slaughtered them all. Likewise, I can imagine nurgle pretty easily as the cultists all the sudden become plague-filled zombies that burst from their summoning circle to spread their putrescence.

But what about slaanesh? What about tzeentch?

What happens when the cultists get what they wanted, and then very quickly learned to regret it?

The Slaanesh one involves rape.

Like, maybe in slaanesh's case it's that the cultists all die horribly in a fit of overstimulation, their ears and eyes exploding as their hearts are stopped from the shock. Or else maybe they all quickly go insane, reaver-style with a slaanesh twist. Like, the one guy wants to have the experience of killing someone, and another wants the experience of eating human flesh and another wants to know what it feels like to have a limb cut off, and they all hack each other into viscera...

... with the one cultist who could stand it idly running his finger through the blood on the walls, bored.

Remember when they finally get the garbled video message straightened out and get to see what the crew were all doing to eachother while it was sent (specifically the couple who are having sex while the woman is eating the guy's neck?)

That's the sort of thing that would happen with a Slaanesh summoning gone horribly wrong. Death not by over-stimulation of excess.. There was a chapter of marines that this happened to. They were as loyal as they get, and one day wished the knew when a heretic was lying. Tzeentch heard their wish, and granted it. Every time someone lied, they would hear it. To my knowledge all possible paths for most average forgettable cultists end in a violent and untimely death. And if they get what they even wanted in the first place..... they still die.

Summoning for Chaos Cultists never goes truly right, as even when it's right, it's wrong. Isn't there something saying that lucky cultists rise the ranks but it is the truly unlucky ones that successfully summon daemons? Besides that, there'd be more if we had a codex for them .
