Rust & Corrosion Effects

Painted my ADL Calban Green and I wanted to use Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust on it around the edges and bullet holes. Anyone had any experience with these on a paint that wasn't leadbelcher or any other metallic color?

Rust & Corrosion Effects

I mostly paint whatever is going to get the rust treatment with black->metal then I do a couple of layers of typhus and a rough dry brush of the ryza. It should work fine over anything though, especially if you use more than one layer of typhus. The underlaying brown portion of the rust will be a little different depending on its base, but the orange will be the same.

Essentially, it should work fine. As long as you get the dark brown plus orange, it should look like rust.

In terms of more advanced techniques, I really like salt weathering, pigments/powders.

id also suggest perhaps a chipping solution? However, it does give some damn good effects! ala my favourite model ive done to date:

Although I think the issue might have been that I did the salt technique twice. Once to get the rust onto the metal colour below in a rusty way, then again with the paint job on top. giving it a 3 level look. Which was also a little time consuming. Might just stick to one level of rust. perhaps I could put down a metal colour, wash it toa rust look, add some powders (I also am a big fan of powders since trying them - get a £2 box of soft pastels from amazon, crush em up and your sorted..... or you can pay the £5 per pot of 1 colour that gaming sites charge......) and then varnish and salt the paint job over the top.
