Aura glow

I want to have like a glowing aura around my entire model, so not OSL. Ideally a really light wash would be nice but I only have dark ones on hand. Also I want a golden aura.

Could I mix gold with a lot of water, really thin it down and paint over a green model without fully blotting out the green to achieve this effect?

the only way you're going to effectively cause your model to have a glowing look, is to have the model work as OSL on other things on the base, and on the base itself. Otherwise it's just going to look like you got your highlights backwards...

Damn, this is what I was afraid of.

What if I tried like a gold dry brush, like a super super light dry brush?

Trying to picture it in my head atm lol

Doing highlights backwards is actually a good way to create a glowing effect. Having bright, almost white "shading" in the crevices working up to a darker colour on the edges tends to give the impression that something is glowing (like a light source within).

Not really sure how this will work with gold though, hmmm. I think it will just turn out messy, but maybe do a test model and see how it comes out.

You can then OSL the base and surrounding area, I'm not a massive fan of OSL though. The only thing I bothered to paint with OSL is the interior of my Valkyrie. OSL, to me at least, only really "works" on dioramas where you can actually control the false-lighting across a large area, OSL on a model that's not part of a larger diorama almost always just looks weird to me.
