I want to start a second army while I wait for the rest of my playgroup to finish their off and I have narrowed my choices down to these four.

I love the Ork lore, don't know much about Necrons except that they come back from the dead and are pretty boss, Chaos Daemons look friggin awesome but hell to paint.

Which is cheapest to get into $$$ wise and what are some pros and cons with all of them?

Re:Orks, Necrons or Chaos Daemons

The Ork codex is right around the corner, so if they're one of your top choices I would wait to see what their rules will be like before buying them. Right now, with their old rules, experienced players can still make them work, but melee-dedicated armies have been at a disadvantage since 6th edition dropped. The new codex will probably help; it's too soon to tell really.

Necrons are pretty forgiving gameplay-wise and are easy to paint. They heavily favor close ranged shooting and have plenty of methods of getting around the board very quickly, which is something that is of value in Maelstrom missions. They're durable, but lacking in melee. Troops are cheap and plentiful.

The Chaos Daemons codex is pretty good, although you'll be at a disadvantage if you just stick to one god (unless you pick Tzeentch). Daemons are actually much easier to paint than you would expect. You can check tutorials online, but I paint my daemons using a basecoat, then dry brush a lighter color, then pick out certain details before putting a wash on them. Chaos Daemons strength comes from (mostly) its flying monstrous creatures (Be'lakor, Kairos Fateweaver and daemon princes you'll see in competitive lists) and their high warp charge count that will help them summon even more daemons.

Out of these three armies, I would think that the Necrons are the cheapest. Everything in the battleforce (the battleforce boxes actually give you a bulk discount, unlike a lot of things GW has been pushing lately) is useful. I'm too lazy to really do the math right now. If you plan to do any summoning at all with your daemon army (which I think you should) you could end up bringing ~2000pts to a 1500pt game, which means you'll have to pay more. I really don't know how expensive ork armies can be, price changes and new models are occurring right now; will be easier to tell after their codex comes out.

This is actually very helpful. The Ork is definitely best to way, I don't care much for pure melee army tbh and the Necrons just look boss on a table. Didn't know they were more of close range shooters though.

Daemons I am really tempted as they have so many models that just look really cool.

What do you think about the Dark Eldar?

(Think I am looking for an evil army)

Orks, Necrons, Chaos Daemons or Dark Eldar

Given the new kits and rules that have been released, it looks like Ork shooting is going to be better than before. Unless melee gets a significant buff, I think the army is going to be almost entirely shooting oriented. Shoota Boyz have been the superior choice for a long time, Flash Gitz are a lot more viable now, and artillery just got completely fantastic, with the basic gunz getting a lot cheaper and the new stuff (except the bubble chukka, which is strictly for the lulz) providing stronger and more specialized alternatives.

I can't speak much about Dark Eldar, as I've never actually faced them, but what I've heard is that 6th was not kind to their rules. Don't know how 7th is settling out for them. Their basic modus operandi seems to be high-speed maneuvering to try to keep away from things that can turn them to paste. They also have a very high percentage of Finecast models, so be warned.

Re:Orks, Necrons, Chaos Daemons or Dark Eldar

Orks have a modelling advantage over every other army. Ork fiction dictates that Meks build stuff without actually using any form of instructions, so they often look completely different everytime. It allows you to scratch build anything/everything in the Ork army that isn't actually and Ork, or grot. If you're big into scratch building this can save you a significant amount of money.

Necrons are pretty much an all elite army, like marines, so you get a way with fewer models. Rules wise Necrons are sitting pretty in 7th edition.

Demons will cost the most to put together an army. Giant monsters and cheap insfantry adds up to a lot of bank.

Screamers are alright. Be'lakor is awesome. Daemon Princes (either Slaanesh or Tzeentch are good) and Soulgrinders (Nurgle if you want to sit back and snipe with Phlegm Bombardment, or Slaanesh with the torrent weapon if you want to be more aggressive) are very durable and killy. Beyond that its personal taste I think.

Besides Hounds, Khorne is pretty meh.

I think the "daemon" universal special rule gives them a 5++.

The Ork codex will be out in a week or two and they're getting a bunch of really nice new models at the moment, so if you can stand to wait a couple of weeks before making your choice you might find it was worth it. Check out some of the models and see what you think. The new stuff that's been coming out for the Orks is all shooty so it looks like an Ork 'gun line' list could be pretty viable and being close-combat orientated won't hurt them as much in future.

The good thing about the necron codex is that it is really easy to create lists with a wide variety of power levels. You can create a number of flavorful lists which will hold their own against DA.

Against DA, you'll need a comparatively high power level if it is a Deathwing list that is heavy on terminators. You'll need to dial it back a bit if he brings mostly Ravenwing though.

The battleforce is a great deal, because you can make both the deathmarks and immortals from what is in the box with some minor kitbashing. Add in an AB/CCB (which comes with a plastic overlord) and you'd be good to go.

To extend further, another box of warriors and a box of immortals and you can kitbash up some Crypteks (which are basically just warrior bodies with deathmark heads and any sort of kitbashed wierd staff thing)
