The Necrons, what to buy?

Hey there, I'm sort of a new guy to the whole 40K and tabletop gaming gig, I've always been interested in it though, the fluff, the models, all just seems so cool.
Well anyway, a couple of years ago I had a lil' disposable cash so I threw it down Games Workshop way... bought a bunch of necrons amd some kroot- mostly because they looked cool, haha.
But now my friend asked me to come play over the summer and I thought that it's a shame to uave bought them and ignored them as I have, a waste of money if nothing else, amd so as I finished college now I have the time to fix the sets up and get them painted.
Hooowweeevveerrrrr, picking units based solely on how awesome they look I fear will put me at a disadvantage when trying to field a half decent army... I don't expect to be number one player or anything likethat but I would love to have a bit of an effect in a 2v2 game, for example.
So I ask for the help of you pros, who's help I will greatly appreciate, to give some reccomendations as to what I could buy next- I have some money to spend again, rougly £120 and have all the paint and stuffs that I need to... well... paint. I believe we're pretty liberal with the rules and points, so any units that would compliment each other would be great.
So far, my lil' Necron army consists of
- The Stormlord Guy
- A Crypteck
- 5 Lychguard (not assembled yet)
- 5 Deathmarks
- 6 Scarab bases
- 20 Immortals with Tesla Guns

PS, I the idea of a phalanx of immortals, rather than those weedy looking warriors seems so appealing in my head, soif these guys make the bulk of the army it would be a bonus.

Much love.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also have between 10 and 16 Warriors... these were my first models, half broken, how many I have depends on how many I can fix up and paint to make presentable...

Re:The Necrons, what to buy?

Depending on what your friend's playing, you might be able to do fine without a competitive mindset. Having said that, if you wanna do well, you can buy some Nightscythes for your Immortals to ride in, some Annihilation Barges because of their crazy firepower and durability and some Canoptek Wraiths because they're wicked in melee, have 3+ invulnerable saves and they're fast enough to get into melee in a meta that discourages getting into melee easily.

If you end up getting warriors, you'll want ghost arks to carry and support them, but then it becomes a bigger $ investment. More immortals wouldn't hurt, but I would buy 1-2 Nightscythes, 1-2 Anh. Barges and 3-6 Wraiths (half of them with whip coils) first.

If you can afford it, Lords with resurrection orbs to buff the immortals would be good too.

If you get more immortals, give them gauss blasters.

Scarabs are awesome against vehicles, but 6 bases can die fast. For more anti-tank (again, it depends on what your opponent has) consider a Triarch Stalker with a Heat Ray.

The Necrons, what to buy?

Well, for 7th ed superscoring troops etc are what it is all about. All you need is some mobility.

For clarity, exactly what do you have built, what's in pieces, and what are you planning to buy?

Couple of thoughts:

a) The warrior legs and chests can be used with Deathmark backs and heads to make more deathmarks.

b) Warrior legs, chests can be combined with Preatorian backs plus Deathmark heads to make awesome crypteks. You can literally kitbash any staff looking gizmo thing and call it whatever you want.

c) Your leftover bits from that Lych box are gold - crypteks and lords can be easily kitbashed from immortal bodies.

c) Ghost Arks are very good in 7e and immortals can't take them.

Combos :

1) Deathmarks with Harbringer of Despair crypteks. This needs either a night scythe or the Harbringer needs a veil of darkness. This "Death and Despair" combo is widely written about.

2) Use a Veiltek (Harbringer of Despair with veil of darkness) in a squad of 10 Tesla immortals.

Units to think about:

Annihilation Barges
Ghost Arks
Spyders (to make scarabs, for psychic defence)
Night Scythes as already mentioned

What models do you think are cool? and what points level do you want to play at?

Ghost Ark. Get two. Ditch immortals. They are good don't get me wrong, but the Ghost Ark makes warriors not only viable, but outright lethal. Can you say broadside b*tches for 30 rapid fire shots with guass? Also the ark can resurrect fallen warriors. Seriously take at least two.

CCB is the most broken vehicle out there right now. It can resurrect, has quantum shielding, and with wound allocation rules with chariots just ensure that the barge takes any strength 6 attacks and lower, and the lord takes everything else that won't instagib him. Also, worth noting that RAW the barge can take a 3++ due to Overlord phase shifter. 300 points never tasted so good.

Night Scythes are one of the better transports right now so get a couple of those.

Three annihilation barges will wreck an opponents day.
