More so, remember how it's said that all those gigantic hive fleets are just 'fingers' of a 'hand' that's going to crush and devour the life in Milky Way galaxy? Well, in my opinion it's one of -many- such ultra-hives that got sent in all directions towards nearest galaxies once there was nothing more to eat as it's quite unlikely that the -whole- Tyranid race would risk so much heading for just one place that might not even be worth devouring due to low amounts of life.

Despite their Codex being fairly baddish they're pretty much the most powerful race in 40k. But realistically the Dex says they have devoured 12? Other Galaxies.
What they faced there threat-wise is unknown. Could be just proto planets with microbes as enemies.....

Or we are the last Galactic bastion. I like to think these are just renegade hives, running from the main hives due to having developed their own hivemind, seperate from the main. Or possibly created through genetic experements gone wrong by another race in another galaxy.
