All painted 8000 point non-Apoc megabattle - now with turn by turn actions!

My friend and I decided to set out our chaos armies today for a grand 8,000 point battle! We decided to use a standard mission plus one of the Maelstrom missions for extra turn by turn objectives. It just so happened that my army is entirely Slaanesh, while his was Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Khorne! Here's a rough breakdown of the lists:

My undivided friend:

Warhound titan
Stormsword

Abaddon
khorne lord
tzeentch sorcerer
kharne
daemon prince
3-helbrute deepstrike formation
helfist murderpack
berserkers in rhino x2
plaguemarines in rhino x2
khorne terminators in landraider
nurgle terminators in landraider
more khorne terminators in landraider
khorne terminators deep striking
Heldrake
2 defilers
thousand sons
aegis line
6x nurgle obliterators

I wanna say that's it for him, but it seems like that's nowhere near 8000 points....ah well. Here's mine:

Warhound titan
Baneblade
Zarakynel
Lucius the Eternal
Chaos lord on bike
Daemon Prince
30 slaanesh marines in rhinos
30 noisemarines in rhinos
10 chosen in rhinos
vindicator
defiler
heldrake
5 spawn
20 raptors
6 obliterators
110 cultists
2 helbrutes
10 havocs with 8 lascannons

You can see the battle play out in the photos below, but here's the rundown:

I went first, and basically ran everything forward. The maelstrom objective I drew was to secure an objective that he firmly held, so I threw it away at the end of my turn. My warhound was outfitted with inferno guns, both for fun and because I figured there would be a lot of infantry on the board - boy was I wrong! Since it was out of range, it ran forward as well. Despite my lascannons, baneblade and blastmasters I only managed to take a hull point off a landraider and 3 hull points off a defiler. 8000 points and I can't get first blood. Go me! My daemon prince did summon some daemonettes, though, for him to chew on.

His turn 1, he fired his turbolasers at my warhound. I forgot entirely about my void shields, and in one shot the warhound went up in flames. First blood AND 3 points for taking 9 HP off a lord of war. Great start! He had almost lost first blood to me, actually, when his damaged defiler fired its battle cannon at a rhino and scattered back onto itself. No such luck. He manages to destroy a rhino with his hellfist murderpack and then charge the marines within it, but they got a few hull points in and held their ground. Of note in this battle was that when his helfist murder champion killed my aspiring champion and rolled on the gifts table, he turned into a spawn! This will probably be the only time I'll see a dreadnought get turned into a chaos spawn. Quite amusing. His khorne terminators got out of their landraider, but couldn't reach my spawn.

My second turn, two squads of obliterators, the heldrake, and a squad of raptors came in from reserves. My objectives I drew were to make sure I had three units within 12" of my deployment zone and none of his, and to secure objective #6, which he held but I thought I could get to. One obliterator squad mishapped back into reserves, but the other landed behind his warhound and stripped off two measly hull points (again, I forgot about void shields, else I wouldn't have even done that!). The raptors landed behind his stormsword and took five hull points off. Supported by lascannons, the superheavy tank went up in smoke, giving me three VPs as well. On the left flank, my maulerfiends and helbrute ran into the melee with the helfist murderpack, and began packing some murder of my own. THe spawn and chaos lord charged the khorne terminators, leaving only one alive, who had a fearless banner and stayed put, pinning me in place for Abaddon. Zarakynel failed her charge, so she would be facing the Warhound's wrath next turn. I summoned more daemonettes in his back field, and passed the dice. I scored points for "Hold the Line".

His second turn saw the arrival of the triple-helbrute formation, though two mishapped back into reserves. Two squads of obliterators showed up, intent on taking down the baneblade and a helbrute. They were successful at the latter. A squad of khorne terminators also arrived, landing on my left side where the majority of my forward push was concentrated. He landed on target, and ran to spread out and avoid the baneblade's wrath. His objectives he drew were to hold objective #2, which he stood a good chance of doing, and assassination, requiring him to kill characters. His daemon prince charged and took care of my raptors, granting him that objective after killing their champion, and though both of my helbrutes were killed the baneblade escaped with 4 hull points left and Zarakynel lost only 3 wounds to the warhound. Abaddon got out of his landraider with his retinue of nurgle terminators and charged the lord and chaos spawn, wiping out the spawn but failing to kill my lord. The maulerfiend finished off the helfist murderpack, saving the life of the last marine of the originally charged squad, and got ready to eat some terminators.

My third turn, Zarakynel charged into Abaddon and his retinue. Another raptor squad arrived and tried to kill a rhino by objective 6. If they could do it, and my noisemarines could kill enough of his plaguemarines, I would take it from him. Alas, they scattered far backwards, ending up by the same daemon prince that had killed their friends. My other obliterator squad landed by the warhound, in an attempt to lend their firepower to its destruction. My objectives I drew this turn were to secure objective 5, which I had, and to get behind his lines with 1 or 3 units, getting 1 or d3 VP respectively. Since my obliterators had just arrived and I had daemonettes back there from the turn before, I was in a good position to get both.

I did end up summoning daemonettes, and my baneblade took its last shots to kill the obliterators that were giving it grief. My defiler charged the other obliterator squad, and would see it killed. On the left, all my marines got out and dumped fire into the khorne terminators, leaving only one and their chaos lord remaining. Both maulerfiends charged into the combat, and the khorne terminators with their blind fury-wielding lord were no more. The obliterators brought the warhound to 2 HP remaining, but the baneblade managed to scatter and kill an obliterator, which made them fail their morale test and run away. Luckily I had summoned daemons, or my three units in the enemy deployment zone objective would have been all for naught! Zarakynel managed to kill everyone but Abaddon, due to my chaos lord being forced to issue a challenge over her. The lord died, but all that stood standing was a wounded Abaddon and the khorne terminator. My turn ended scoring a point for objective 5, 2 points for 7 HP on the warhound, and 3 points for behind enemy lines.

His third turn the mishapped units arrived, and his last terminator squad disembarked from their landraider to show Lucius that he was mortal, after all. His prince wiped out my raptors, the warhound made short work of the remainder of the baneblade, and Abaddon and his last terminator fell to Zarakynel's blade, which healed her a point and removed his point for doing 3 wounds to her. His objectives he drew this turn were to control objective 6, control objective 4, and control objective 2. He got two of them.

We had to call it after turn 3, but he was running out of forces and I was in a good position. I controlled objectives 1, 2, 3, and 5 to his 4 and 6. Final tally was him 19, me 24.

http://s280.photobucket.com/user/Spellbound44/library/8000%20points%20Emperors%20Children%20rebel%20vs%20Abaddon

Victory for the Emperor's Children! We are no longer Abaddon's lapdogs! Hope you enjoyed it all!
