How long was it on the store shelf, though? That stuff starts degrading as soon as it goes into the pot, it seems.

Imperial Primer needs a lot of stirring and working before it's usable. I stopped bothering (especially as it tended to rub off) and just went with a bottle of sandable spray primer (good ol' Rustoleum).
