Problems with my Necron Compound

First off, my necron compound is a very odd drybrush. Do you normally get it as a giant silver chunk with a bunch of liquid at the bottom. I attempted to stir it with a toothpick, but it just got fragmented.
Any suggestions as to getting it to function? My etherium blue is perfectly normal. Just wondering why this happened.

I think it's the material that's used to make it shiny that causes the problem. I've had issues with two different pots of the stuff. It has a very short shelf-life, as far as I can tell.

That stuff starts degrading as soon as it goes into the pot, it seems.

Imperial Primer needs a lot of stirring and working before it's usable. I stopped bothering (especially as it tended to rub off) and just went with a bottle of sandable spray primer (good ol' Rustoleum).
You could avoid Necron Compound altogether and just mix white paint into some silver paint and do fine edge highlights. Works for me.
