Introducing More Cards into 40k

So, I had this idea, and I figured the rules thread was as good as any, since there is no "Arts and Crafts" forum on Dakka.

Anyway, I started 40k as 7th ed was phasing in and I had the bright idea of making reference cards for the psychic powers, and maybe the TacObjectives. But to my utter glee, there were Gee-dubs official cards on the webstore so I picked those up instead. Now, as I played a few games with my Brother, I found that looking up weapons profiles in the books was just as fiddly.

So, I was wondering about a passing comment someone made about 3rd or 4th ed 40k. Something along the lines of, "4th edition had loads of cards," and a passing reference to WarGear cards I heard somewhere else. Was there something with respect to the mechanics of 4th ed 40k that made cards of this nature necessary, or were they purely for reference, too? I found this fantastic guide for making homebrew cards with playing card stock and a home printer, and I'd like something of substance to try it out on.

Any feedback is welcome

Introducing More Cards into 40k

It was 2nd edition that had wargear cards.

But since you ask:

My warlord trait cards https://sites.google.com/site/potica40k/warlord-traits

My mission cards https://sites.google.com/site/potica40k/missions

Some things won't make sense to you because they're intended to work with a different ruleset, but it'll give you something to work with. The warlord traits are especially handy to have on a card because you only need the one for reference and it both saves time and helps you not forget that you even have it.
