It was going to be 1850 CWE vs SM, but someone else showed up as we were deploying, so we added allies at 500 who came in t2 (anything of theirs that walked on got Ongoing Reserves instead of regular.

My CWE list was a Swordwind list, modified to allow me to field my Avatar (FW, and the only paintjob I've ever commissioned! Looks amazing!) for the first time. Also my first time with Shining Spears, Rangers, and using a Psker in 7th. Also only ever used a Wraithlord once before, where 3 snapshotting lootas killed it top of turn2. So a lot of things new to me.

Every Aspect squad has an Exarch with a different weapon.

Someone else set up our table, with two Bastions near the middle (specified as not dilapidated). We roll Hammer and Anvil, and he goes first.

His Warlord gets Sword.
His psyker goes Telepathy and rolls 1 and 3.

My Warlord - The Avatar
Rolls Seer of the Shifting Useless. No possible use in my list. I have never, in any of my games as Eldar, been in a situation where it could help, even if I didn't have it. So I reroll. Split fire. On an MC. should have rolled BRB traits...

My Farseer goes Runes. Eldrich could be fun. Mindwar isn't the worst. Death Mission. Right/left as from my board edge.

His deployment is simple. Bunch of Tacs down the center line. One behind the two most-centered units. One tac termie squad on the deployment line between tac squads to the right of center. Dev squad in cover about halfway back from his deployment line. Talons and the other Tac Termie unit in reserve. His Chapter Master in a central Tac squad, and Librarian in the deployed Termies.

The only cover near the middle of the board are the Bastions.

I'm playing the Avatar, so obviously he goes front-and-center right on the deployment line.
Put the banshees on his right.
The 6man DAs flanking Right a bit.
Falcon with the Fragons on the right board edge, next to those DAs.
The 10man DAs with the Farseer spread out to the left of the Avatar.
The Wraithlord back and to the left of the Avatar, out of large blast range of the Avatar, and ensuring the Bastion gives him cover from his Devs.
The Reapers about halfway back on the right, in cover.
Rangers infiltrate into the closer Bastion, and Scorpions infiltrate behind the further one.
Spears try to hide the only place they can: halfway back on the left side.

Turn 1:

Top:
Pops Tac Tactics.
Moves all but his Devs 6" forward.
Psyker phase he fails one power, I deny the other with a 6. So far so good...
Shooting:
Tacs drop both DA squads down to 1+Exarch, and drops 2 scorpions. A single tac squad leaves my Banshees with only 1 warrior. Another glances the Bastion my Rangers are in. All of this outside rapid fire range. Ouch.
The devs score 3 wounds on my Wraithlord, but he makes his cover save, and is down to 1 wound. Double ouch.

Bottom 1:
Move the Falcon forward, disembark the Dragons.
Move Scorpions into LOS of the Termites
Move the Banshee, Avatar, and Wraithlord up the center.
Farseer moves towards the bastion to join the rangers, and both DA squads dive for cover.
Shining spears move up, but I deployed them too far back.

Psykic phase:
fail Eldrich with 4 dice (using the soulstone), use my runes, fail again.
Mindwar gets denied.
One-dice guide, as I forgot I can't do that while embarked anymore, but it fails anyways.

Shooting:
Scorpions, Falcon, Avatar, and Wraithlord take out the tac termies, but can't get the Librarian.
Fragons kill a few Marines on the right flank.
Banshees and DAs combined (5 models) manage to drop 1 marine.
Rangers don't even wound.
Spears have to flat out, and make it to the unoccupied Bastion's battlements (safest place, but not very).
Reapers drop a Tac squad down to 5.
Can't assault, obviously.

Not a good round for me.

Round 2:
Both Talons come in, and zoom up the right side, looking strait at the Fire Dragons.
Termie squad #2 fails to arrive.
Ork with SAG, weirdboy, and all 3 guns manned by grots come in walk on from their board edge. Fairly spread out. Shooty Orks!

Movement: All but the leftmost Tac squad moves into rapid fire range.
Librarian joins the nearest Tac squad.

Pskic phase:
Librarian screams a DA squad to death
Librarian fails to shroud himself
Weirdboy is out of range

Shooting:
A Tac squad does 4 wounds to the Shining Spears with boltguns. 3 failed armor saves. No more spears.
Another Tac squad finishes off the second DA squad.
Another shoots at the Dragons, killing 2.
Two shoot at the Avatar, but he makes his saves.
The Talons open up on the Fire Dragons, which go to ground. 2 survive.
Devs shoot the Falcon, which saves without jinking.
Everything else shoots the Bastion. One more glance (3 HP, right?).

The Falcon desides to sit atop the bastion (if it's higher than a Talon, does the Talon still have Hard to Hit? Lol.)
Dragons are pinned and Reapers shuffle a little.

Hawks bomb drops a ML marine from the dev squad.

Psychic:
At least I got Mindwar off, but that's it! And it even gave my Farseer WS/BS 1 as a reward! Yay? Failed Guide on 4 dice, though.

Shooting:
10 hits on the Chapter Master's squad from my Wraithlord's flamers was nice...
Rangers actually scored a wound, but the Marine made his Armor Save.
Hawks couldn't see the Devs, so they blinded and wounded the Ork with the SAG. Then spread out.
Fragons failed to hit a Talon
The Falcon and the Avatar further softened up the Chapter Master's squad, leaving 3 Tac Marines (killing Sarge).
Scorpions shot at the Libby's squad.
Reapers put the hurt on another Tac squad.
BAs started shooting up the leftmost Tac squad.

Assault:
Now time for some fun!
Avatar, Wraithlord, and Banshee all make it into combat with the Chapter Master +3.
Avatar wounds once, but the CM saves.
Lord and Banshee wiff.
Banshee saves two wounds.
Chapter Master wounds the Avatar.
I lose combat by one...

Scorpions fare better. Most of the Tac squad dies, and lose one warrior in his rebuttle.

Talons zip up the right side of the board
Weirdboy lines up 3 Hawks for later...
Leftmost Tac squad shuffles up

Psykic:
I deny his Shrouding.
Weirdboy beams 3 hawks dead.

Shooting:
Lots goes into the Ranger's bastion, taking it down.
Small arms take out the Rangers (bolters AP them). Farseer manages to survive.
Remaining heavy weapons gun for the Falcon, who makes his non-jinking cover save (yaay other bastion + holo).

Melee:
Chapter Master saves the Avatar's wound. Banshee wiffs, but saves. Wraithlord cleans out the Marines. Avatar saves. CM holds.

Scorpion Exarch drops the Libby by wounding once (claw ftw), Warriors drop the Marines down to two. They break, and I try to hold them (oops), but fail. Scorps consolidate towards his board edge.
