Deployment and mission:

We rolled the cross table deployment (long sides) and the Relic mission. The bad guys rolled first turn and we started under night fighting conditions. The Chaos Lord rolled the trait where he had hatred. The ork rolled the forced pinning test (nothing was affected by pinning) and the infilitrate trait.

Our deployment was as follows:



The firebase – Devastator squad, lootas, and vindicare assassin!




Turn 1:
The enemy failed to do anything appreciable. They moved mostly and failed to get warp blast off on the battle wagons. They did manage to bring one wagon down to a single hullpoint through weight of fire. Both tyrants went airborne and flew.

On our turn, the vindicare fired and killed a venom thrope, opening up that side to unobstructed shooting. The terminators and other models managed to mow through about 25 termagaunts, though many were spawning.

The tankbustas managed to glance the landraider and disembarked to assault. On the assault phase they wrecked it, lucky to have not gotten an explode result.

The lootas fired and took a hull point off the mauler fiend.

During the assault phase, a terminator squad charged and killed the fiend.

So score was 1 – 0 thanks to first blood.






Turn 2:

The tyrants flew into position to open up on the battle wagons again. The carnifex moved to assault as well. Shooting wasn’t significant. One tyrant did manage to wreck a battle wagon. The other knocked three hull points off the second wagon.

Charges abound however as the terminators who had been ejected from their ride charged and butchered the tankbustas. The warlord rolled a 66 on the gifts chart, becoming a demon prince and spitting him out of his unit.

The carnifex charged the terminators and died in cc after killing the champion.

A unit of termagaunts and the tervigon charged the ork unit, which lost 7 but killed 11 termagaunt and dropped 2 wounds on the tervigon.

Meanwhile, the other side featured two failed charge attempts at the terminators by the other unit of termagaunts and the second tervigon.

One tyrant landed to fire so only one was still airborne.

Our phase:

We managed to open up some serious shooting. The flash gitz dumped 11 wounds on the newly minted demon prince, who promptly died.

The lootas got 5 wounds on the 2nd tervigon, and the devastators finished him off. The resulting termagaunt feedback, combined with the shooting from the terminators and tactical squad saw 32 termagaunts die.

The vindicare shot the tyrant and put two wounds on him.

The razorback failed to kill a terminator.

Terminators charged and finished the remaining tervigon while the orks cut down the remaining termagaunts. The surrounding termagaunts were all killed from tervigon feedback.

2 – 1 due to linebreaker for them and slay the warlord for us.




Turn 3:

The hell brutes arrived. None did anything shootingwise.

The khorne marines finally disembarked.

Shooting saw 5 orks die from bolt pistols and 7 flash gitz die from devourers and a warp blast.

Terminators charged the loyalists, killing all but one who threw a shot back and killed a renegade termie. He died simultaneously from a chainfist.

A tyrant charged the ork warlord’s unit. A brave big shoota ork shot and killed him on the overwatch!

The second tyrant landed this phase.

Our phase:
Vindicare missed!

Terminators shot at and assaulted a hellbrute, killing him. The other surviving squad fired at and stunned a hellbrute as well as glancing it with the cyclone launcher.

Marines shot and killed the zoanthrope.

The lootas fired and did one wound to a tyrant. The laser devastators did the same.

My ork units charged a khorne squad, killing all but 4 but leaving only 8 orks. The other unit charged the hellbrute holding the relic and immobilized it.

The flash gitz bravely try to kill the last tyrant, but are shot in overwatch and murdered in combat.

The librarian managed to kill himself on his second perils of the warp test.

Turn 4:

The chaos terminators charged the objective and joined the fight with the hellbrute. In the following combat, they wiped the unit.

The second khorne squad charged the ork warlords unit and killed all but one and the warlord, who promptly fled.

Our phase:

The stormtalon finally arrives! He flys in and kills the last tyrant.

At the objective, laser cannons from the devastators and the combined shooting of the terminator squad kills the hellbrute and the chaos terminators.

At this point they tipped. We had the following remaining:

15 lootas
7 devastators
10 terminators
1 battle wagon
8 marines
1 vindicare

They had:
2 marines in one unit
3 in the other
2 rhinos
2 venomthrope

Great game. We won 5 – 2 holding the objective.
