Hello! New here and wondering which sub-forum to put a certain post in...

Hi guys, I've been lurking on the forum for a few weeks (and it seems like a really awesome place) so here I am, finally becoming a member. I just got back into the hobby after about 8 years off and am finally getting serious about taking my painting skill to the next level (it was at "crap" level before so that shouldn't be too hard).

Anyway, I've noticed my biggest problem right now is proper lighting, and even though I have a very bright CFL desk lamp to work under, I find myself still needing to wear an LED headlamp to get a "spotlight" affect on my minis in order to really see what I'm doing. The problem with that is, I paint for hours at a time and this headlamp just eats through batteries. Anyone here know of any kind of headlamp with a power cord that runs on A/C mains power? I'd really like something I can just plug in and leave on for as long as I want without wastefully draining batteries, but I can't seem to find anything like that on amazon. Closest I can find are "rechargeable" ones with a power cord but they probably don't last very long on a charge and then that's wasted downtime waiting for them to charge back up again. Anyone have any ideas, or is there a specific forum on Dakka I should be asking this in? Thanks!

And, once again, hi guys!

Hello and welcome to Dakka Dakka! Not sure about headlamps with power cords, but have you considered something like floodlights or posable/hanging mechanics lights? Those may give the spotlight effect you need.

Hi, thanks for the replies, guys. (this is Deftin btw, with a name change).

I appreciate the lighting suggestions and will definitely look into them. Another thing I've been considering is picking up two OttLites to arrange in a "stereo" pattern to hopefully give me lighting I require with less glare, since the CFL and LED headlamp system I'm using now is pretty glarey. Just not sure I can afford two of the ones that are tall enough for my needs, yet...
