Re:Looking to start beastmen

If you are looking for the best bang for your buck( and who isn't), the Beastmen Battallion box is a solid purchase, as is the plastic Bray Shaman.

Equip the Gors with 2 hand weapons, make the Ungor Bow wielding Raiders, fill out full command with all of the units. You can get a very basic low point game out of just those two purchases.

Once you get a feel for it, just buy another Battalion Box, maybe even another Bray-shaman, as magic is crucial to us. I made an army Standard Bearer and Beastlord out of the Gor and Bestigor champ bitz, in addition to other chaos related bitz. I then used a few Gor and Bestigor in some Orc Chariots.

I've probably bought the battalion box 5 to 6 times. Bought again one today, actually.

Purchase some Harpies, Avatars of War makes great ones, Mantic has some fugly ones for cheap, and GW are fugly, Finecast, expensive ones. Grab a couple of big beasts to proxy as Razorgor , as the GW razorgor is expensive, fugly and Finecast.

Also, buy a terrain piece that can double as a Herdstone, as that it crucial to a certain build, arguably our best build in competitive settings.

This is all assuming you want a Gor/Bestigor cenrtric army, of course.

Honestly if an army is so bad they need a 300pt buffer (and more) you should buy Beastman models and use the Warriors of Chaos rules. It wouldnt be hard.

I remember back in my day when the chaos codex had them and demons in it as well anyway.

Poor beastmen.

Looking to start beastmen

The best beastmen choices are as follows:

- A horde of Bestigor
- Plenty of Magic + Herdstone item
- A horde of Gors with a Beast Banner BSB in tow
- Plenty of chaff (Razorgors, Ungor Raiders etc)

Stick mostly to those things and, generally, you can't go wrong. Minotaurs (and the character versions of) are also a decent choice, but you kind of need to build your list around them and, though many people like to use such lists, personally, I don't rate them. Tooled up Beastlords are also pretty good, as there's some decent upgrades in the Beastmen book.

Hope this helps, any more questions, feel free to ask!
