So in 3 days my city is basically going to become a giant pain in the rear to travel around, thanks to a whole flock of world leaders descending on it. Some highlights for me will be Obama speaking at my alma mater (hopefully) and seeing Abbott back down from his shirtfronting comment and act like a grown up (also hopefully).

I figured since it is my country and my city that I wanted to start this discussion, so I did.

What are we hoping to see come out of it?
Do we actually expect what we hope to come about, or is actual progress a pipe dream?
Do we expect Canada levels of protests, or will the Australian sun keep them at home?
Who will have the most embarrassing gaff of the event?

Let's hear it, and lets keep it civil.

I would be so keen to see Abbott attempt to actually shirtfront Putin and get his ass handed to him

I really think it will be a pointless meeting like last time.
The drop bears and other killer fauna of Australia will seize their chance to decapitate the political head of the human race, little realising that politicians are all essentially interchangeable drones working to line their own hive with honey at the expense of everyone else...

Revealed, the next rank of faceless political overlords will rise from the ranks and debate endlessly about imposing sanctions on the wildlife of Australia, until such time as oil is discovered when America will declare that the sheep need saving from their oppressive and deadly overlords and invade to seize the oil... erm... restore peace and democracy for all Australian sheep... they will drag along as many people as they can con or strong arm into supporting them.

Trapped in a war... erm... "conflict" they did not properly prepare for which ends up dragging on for years and costing trillions and killing tens of thousands of innocents, America will declare itself the winner and go home.
