Compare the original models arm length to get a feel for where his hand should be in the Talon, which will then give you an idea of how much to cut off.

Also, you might want to get the modelling side of things finished before painting models. It can be a pain to have to take apart a fully-painted model!

The 'wrist' on a power fist is half way up the wearer's forearm, since much of that forearm is supposed to be inside the gauntlet.
