FW Horus Heresy book 3 they were around during the heresy - there is a picture of an Iron Warriors MKII Mars Pattern rhino. I've always taken the Deimos to be simply an update of the original plastic Rhino which was identified in Imperial Armour volume 2 (first edition) as the Mk1b, whilst the modern plastic Mars pattern was labelled the MkIIc

I was wondering whether to take the rhino doors FW sell in the heresy section as gospel, as they also fit some of the flyers which were definitely pre heresy. But now we know, and knowing is half the battle.
