Wall Rules

I just played a game with some cool medieval brick walls. But I was disappointed when I saw the rule for walls that you can assault another unit through the wall if your in base contact with the wall. These are thick and tall brick walls we're talking about, there's no way you can assault through them. We just used them as buildings with battlements on top unfortunately. Is there a better way to use walls without having them be buildings?

Re:Wall Rules

It depends on how high, complete and a robust of a wall we're talking about. The wall rules in the BRB are more about the half-crumbled, ruined walls of a building that's been shelled by artillery. If you're talking about something along the lines of the ramparts of a castle, it doesn't completely work. But using standard rules, there are a number of other rules you could apply:

1. Line of sight: In order to shoot or assault a target, you need to have line of sight of it. If the unit is completely hidden behind the castle wall, then they can't be assaulted.

2. Impassable terrain: Due to their height and/or engineering, you could classify the castle wall as Impassable Terrain.

Alternatively, if your models are standing on top of the wall and are in view of the enemy, they still have to charge both, the horizontal distance between themselves and the wall, as well as the vertical distance between the ground and your models. And if you want to Homebrew some extra penalties - such as always considering the vertical wall as "Difficult terrain" (resulting in a -2 on the charge roll) or the defenders are allowed a better Overwatch (BS: 2?) due to the time needed to climb and/or how the attackers are more exposed/vulnerable while climbing the wall.
