After reading Know No Fear, I think I'm going to start a 30k Ultramarines army.

They get a pretty good showing in Betrayer too, and although The Unremembered Empire is mostly politics and perpetuals there is still a lot of good Ultramarines stuff in there. One thing the HH has really done is work hard to make the Ultramarines credible. It also makes their modern depiction that little bit more tragic because you can really see how they have lost their way (in a subtle way of course; they haven't gone off the deep end).
