Mixing up 40k and some Bolt Action elements

For those familiar with Bolt Action, I'm sort of aiming for your opinion, though, I'm not opposed to hearing others who are unfamiliar:

What would you think about taking just a few elements from BA, them being:

1. Order dice with turn sequence like BA - One order die is gained per unit fielded; all order dice from players are placed in bag; order dice are randomly drawn; when all dice are gone, new turn; [only one order die may be given to each unit - of course ].

2. Assault phase like BA - go until one side has either fled or destroyed in the same turn. Sweeping advances are only done if receiving unit has an order die left, otherwise, sweeping advance done on next turn. Other situations similar to sweeping advance subject to the same principle.

I did find a pdf of something called bolter action (if I remember right) but it pretty much overhauled everything. I don't want something that extreme, more of a plugin.

Thoughts?

Mixing up 40k and some Bolt Action elements

Not feasible. Plugins are all well and good but patches to the core 40k rules never work in a vacuum, they require a lot of subordinate changes. Bolt Action works fairly well with the order dice because all the armies are very, very similar (a rifle is a rifle is a rifle), 40k is way less symmetrical. You'd end up with the exact same problems of the current turn structure, only with an extra couple of paragraphs of rules on top of them.

Mixing up 40k and some Bolt Action elements

I'm not familiar with Bolt Action, but I've seen the proposed "keep assaulting until one side is dead" thing pop up a fair bit. I'm not really sure what it accomplishes. It theoretically takes the same amount of time to resolve (plus a few seconds extra as your brain switches to melee mode), but it invalidates certain units and tactics. Tarpitting would no longer be possible, and shooting armies would gain yet another boost as assault armies would no longer be able to hide in close combat.
