[2000] - Harlequin - Semi competitive fun

Hi all,
I already own far to many toy soldiers and don't really need any more but the new harlequins are calling to me as I'd always fancied a Eldar army and getting harlequins would hopefully be a small collection that won't need expanding.

With that in mind I've come up with the following list, 2000pts is the largest we normally play and it can be paired down for other point levels as needed.
We don't play hugely competitively but it still needs to be able to compete with most armies and list types.

I've added the eldar allies mainly as an excuse to own a Wraithknight as it's one of my favourite models, I intend to model them all as full members of the harlequin army.

Detachment 1: Cegorach's Revenge Harlequin Formation
This detachment seems too good not to use if you've got the points for all the models.

Troupe - 11 Players, 4 Kisses, 1 Caress, 1 Master with The Storied Sword, Starmist Raiment, Haywire Grenades = 275pts
Main unit that will run across the table under psychic protection (hopefully), master will be warlord.
Troupe - 4 players, 1 Master with Caress, Haywire Grenades = 108pts
Starweaver Dedicated Transport = 7xpts
Troupe - 4 players, 1 Master with Caress, Haywire Grenades = 108pts
Starweaver Dedicated Transport = 7xpts
Standard units for claiming objectives and bullying small units, has room for a character to ride along as needed.[/i

2 Skyweavers with Haywire Cannons = 110pts
2 Skyweavers with Haywire Cannons = 110pts
[i]A bit of a tax as I'm not a huge fan, sticking with the haywire for anti-vehicle duty and will try to keep them out of the way as best I can.

1 Voidweaver with Prismatic Cannon = 80pts
I don't expect great things out of it but it can engage most targets with a chance of doing damage, and you have to take at least one.

1 Solitair with Haywire Grenades = 150pts
I love this guy, just seems fun and interesting to use.
1 Death Jester with Haywire Grenades = 65
1 Death Jester with Haywire Grenades = 65
1 Death Jester with Haywire Grenades = 65
These can be deployed in many ways, singleton objective holders, steal a transport and rock around together or just drop one in each squad to boost their firepower.
1 Shadowseer with Mask Of Secrets, Haywire Grenades and PML:2 = 105pts
1 Shadowseer with Haywire Grenades = 65pts
1 Shadowseer with Haywire Grenades = 65pts
These will usually all join the big squad or one will join each squad depending on powers.

Detachment 2: Eldar Allied

Farseer on Jetbike with The Mantle of the Laughing God, Spirit Stone of Anath'lan, Singing Spear = 175pts
A pretty standard bike seer, intend to run around buffing units and possibly summoning stuff. Wait before you shout... by stuff I mean daemonettes modelled as Harlequins, they have a very similar stat line and I see it as a cool way of representing more of them arriving from the webway.
3 Guardian Jetbikes with a Shuriken Cannon.
The standard awesome scoring unit.
1 Wraithknight
I love the model and he adds much needed heavy anti-armour punch to the list and a good chunk of durability to absorb some fire, I don't expect him to live but he should buy the rest of the army some time.

Please let me know what you think, I haven't played this type of army before but I think I've got most bases at least a little covered, I'm not really interested in adding any other normal eldar units to the mix so please don't suggest that I add some waveserpents ;-)
One thing I'm a little concerned about is have I brought too many haywire grenades, I've spent 50pts on the things!

It looks solid for a CR formation. I'm a fan of it if you're going to play anything at all. I second the wraithknight; he'll add a lot to your anti-tank as well as a good overwatch soaker.

For your warlord, do note that you can only have 1 enigma per character, so I would strongly suggest dropping the storied sword and keeping the starmist raiment (too good not to have).

I'm not a fan of the solitaire with haywire grenades. His caress already glances on 6's to hit, his kiss is str6 ap2, and with furious charge, he can take on vehicles with rear av10 just fine already. If you have the points for the grenade, go for it, but eh.

As for the troupes themselves, consider a kiss or two per squad. It significantly helps their damage output and gives a guaranteed ap2 attack. Possibly drop all the haywire from the characters to make room for them.

With the skyweavers, I like haywire cannons + 1 glaive. They can be threatening to backfield units and tanks just as well, but having 4 Str 5 ap2 attacks on the charge from one is just gravy.

Other than that, it looks solid.

As mentioned by Rypher, your troupe master can only have 1 enigma so you have to loose one or the other. That said, I think the raiment is over priced and ineffective due to its limits so I would keep the sword :-)

I would be looking to add an embrace to each squad (I don't rate running lots but 1-2 depending on squad size can be very handy) as well as 1-2 kiss if possible.

I personally don't rate the prismatic cannon either - by sticking to the haywire you have an almost guaranteed way to ensure a vehicle kill after the bikes have fired.

I would not bother with the HWG on the DJ myself - the last place they should be is in combat!

With all that said - I really like the thought process and I think it can work on the board. It only really lacks AA... a crimson hunter is the obvious choice and subbing it in instead of the wraith knight could work I guess...

Re:[2000] - Harlequin - Semi competitive fun

If you need to trim some points for changes, I strongly recommend the caress on your warlord. The Storied Sword isn't as points efficient as the caress against MEQ (though the SS does do more wounds, it's just pricey).

Your Troupe Master already has a 2+ LOS, so I don't see spending points on the Raiment. You don't want him tanking wounds on a 3++ because he's a brutal weapons platform.

I'd put 1-2 kisses in each smaller Troupe.

I'm not a fan of HWC on the bikes because even with their nifty launchers, they will eventually be jinking, but I get the need for the anti-tank. If you're ramming the troupes down your opponent's throat, maybe they'll forget about the bikes. Hopefully your table has a good amount of Line of sight blocking terrain so you can JSJ with them.

Everything else looks great. I love the idea about "summoning harlequins" by the way!

Re:[2000] - Harlequin - Semi competitive fun

Thanks for the responses everyone, I've made a few alterations below.

I hadn't noticed the wording on the enigma's, I wish they would choose a way for relics to be chosen and stick with it but if wishes were horses.....

I've dropped the Storied sword as I only really had it on as I like the look of it on the model, I'll just pretend its a normal CCW or kiss that looks cool.
The Raiment is expensive but combined with the formations re-roll saves of 1 ability its really good.
Dropping the sword has allowed me to put a couple of kisses in each squad move the caress to the Master whilst also giving the large squad an extra kiss as well.
I could drop some of the grenades if needed but they are in as ranged attacks (very short ranged I know) as well as melee options but if there is a better use for a few points please let me know.

We play with lots of terrain on board so I intend to keep the bikes out of LOS as much as possible and don't want them in combat, the single use Bola isn't very good but I quite like it to use against elite deep strikers and the like. The glaive is good but is expensive and undermined by their lack of grenades or a flipbelt.
I like the prismatic cannon for its versatility over the antitank power of the haywire, it pairs alot better with the shuriken cannon.

Detachment 1: Cegorach's Revenge Harlequin Formation

Troupe - 11 Players, 5 Kisses, 1 Master with Caress, Starmist Raiment, Haywire Grenades = 275pts
Troupe - 4 players, 2 Kisses, 1 Master with Caress, Haywire Grenades = 118pts
Starweaver Dedicated Transport = 7xpts
Troupe - 4 players, 2 Kisses, 1 Master with Caress, Haywire Grenades = 118pts
Starweaver Dedicated Transport = 7xpts

2 Skyweavers with Haywire Cannons = 110pts
2 Skyweavers with Haywire Cannons = 110pts

1 Voidweaver with Prismatic Cannon = 80pts

1 Solitair with Haywire Grenades = 150pts
1 Death Jester with Haywire Grenades = 65
1 Death Jester with Haywire Grenades = 65
1 Death Jester with Haywire Grenades = 65
1 Shadowseer with Mask Of Secrets, Haywire Grenades and PML:2 = 105pts
1 Shadowseer with Haywire Grenades = 65pts
1 Shadowseer with Haywire Grenades = 65pts

Detachment 2: Eldar Allied

Farseer on Jetbike with The Mantle of the Laughing God, Spirit Stone of Anath'lan, Singing Spear = 175pts
3 Guardian Jetbikes with a Shuriken Cannon.
1 Wraithknight
