Blood Angels Spring Trap on Renegade Vethean Guard

Breaking news from the Internal Security Administrotum (ISA): Our GNN correspondent Leki Penn was briefed
by officials on an action that took place Friday in the Capella sector. Agent Restum explained the situation.

“We received intel that the Vetheans were going to rendezvous with a high ranking Astra Militarum officer
at the abandoned village of the Two Towers. Major General Leedermann is a much decorated soldier with
decades of combat experience currently assigned as an adjunct to the Capella Sector Security Council.
The General had commanded a Vethean Corp at one time. Our sources tell us this meeting was set up
outside channels, so we are not sure if the General is attempting to bring in the renegades or providing assistance
in some form. We delegated a Blood Angels combat command to detain the General as he is in possession of
highly classified information, secure a communications beacon, disable a Birdshot anti air missile in the area
and intercept the Vetheans.”

The ISA released recon drone cam-pod pics of the action.

The Blood Angel detachment arrives just as the Vetheans enter the town



In the center, the Angels secure the ruins of a banking establishment.



Scout snipers deploy on the right flank



As the Vetheans enter the town, a Blood Angel Whirlwind takes up position in the distant left.
Middle left is the Birdshot missile silo. Lower left, Vethean Guard troops secure a supply cache in the woods



Guard infantry move to the rendezvous point and General Leedermann



The general is so engrossed in his document that he is oblivious to the approaching Blood Angel armor.



Commander Johnson spots the Blood Angels and issues orders to his troops to disperse as it looks
like they have walked into an ambush



As the Guard starts to spread out, a drop pod lands and out steps Dreadnaught Tran Fusean



Guard troopers in the woods scramble to get out of the way as the autocannon prepares to fire on the Dreadnaught.



The Dreadnaught takes aim as Commander Johnson swings the turret around



The Blood Angel snipers take up firing positions to silence the autocannon squad.



On the left flank, Squad Bravo moves up Vista Hill to secure the Comm station and a Predator advances for
a better angle on the Leman Russ



A Chimera moves up to the tower, disgorging a Guard squad who urge the General to seek shelter in the APC.



A Guard Melta gun shot disables one of the Predator’s lascannons, but return fire routs the squad.



Wild-eyed, the Guard squad flees back through their lines



Two Land Speeders move up the left, but are immediately taken out by multi-laser fire



The Predator moves down the hill and out of the line of fire to assess the vehicle damage



Meanwhile, Johnson’s Leman Russ gets off a telling shot that drops the Dreadnaught,
but simultaneously takes a direct hit from Squad Alpha’s lascannon which catapults
Commander Johnson some 35 meters through the air where he lands in a hog wallow
behind the village with serious arm and ankle injuries. Whirlwind fire wipes out the Guard unit in the woods.



At the center, the Predator moves out to confront the remaining Leman Russ and takes a devastating hit.



Squad Bravo, their sergeant wounded, forge on to assault the Chimera, shaking the crew.



The Chimera moves over to the General, popping smoke in the hope it will cover his boarding the vehicle



The smoke clears and the General decides to surrender to the Angels and avoid further casualties.



The scouts, seeing the threat from the Guard in the woods has been eliminated make a dash for the Birdshot missile silo.



A Taurax maneuvers between the wreckage and a squad of Tempestus vets leap out and bring fire on the scouts,
wounding all but Sergeant Weblos who takes cover behind a wall.



Accurate Whirlwind fire destroys the Tempestus threat and Sergeant Weblos moves in and disables
the Birdshot missile launching circuits.



Their rendezvous failed and their commander wounded, the Vethean Guard limped away from the village.
General Leedermann is in custody and being interrogated by ISA operatives in a secure location.
It is hoped the General will be able to cast some light on the Vethean intentions. Our correspondent
Ms. Penn will be reporting as details become available.
