I was just wondering if anyone knows any alternatives to GW's chaos halberds?

You should be able to either trade with people or get some from bits sites such as bitzbox.

Actually that's exactly what I did. Cut up the banner pole. Should get roughly 3 halberds worth per pole. Attach to the bottom of fist with axe or hammer top. Box also comes with spikes. Add those to top of weapons.
