				<description><![CDATA[ I have decided to start an empire, I already play <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> so I get the basic basics but don't really no where to start the army. I know that you can do almost anything with there army, I like the look of the cav. especially the pistoliers. Just want to start a basic not competitive but it can hold its own. Any advice appreciated, also what is a +1 armour save that I have heard about on some Knights (doesn't make sense to me)]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ WELCOME <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(421);'>TO</span> THA' EMPIRE!<br /> <br /> Here to give you advice that may become useful!<br /> <br /> Usually some folks like to get the starter box set since it is jampacked of pretty useful guys that you can use for games between 500-750! You get 8 Knights, 20 State troopers, 10 Xbows/Handgunners, a cannon! That is nice!<br /> <br /> -A 1+ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span> is what ya mean, and that is the armour save of all knights with a shield+lance, (Greatweapon knights are 2+ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span>), it means they are our most durable unit, since anything strength 4 or below has to deal with a 2+ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span> regularly (1+ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span> and 2+ is basically the same 'cept 1+<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span> dudes have the same <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span> AGAIN, since 1's still fail).<br /> <br /> -Pistoliers are a pretty alright unit for us, they can bait charges, chaff up cheap flanks and be a nuisance, just don't expect them to kill a lot, they're BS3 with just pistols!<br /> <br /> -Our wizards are cheap and plentiful, so many lores to choose from! But depending on the style of army you are wanting, it can depend!<br /> <br /> -Our heroes are commonly used for support, rather than killing power, the only real machine we have is the Grandmaster, giving he has the Runefang, or Ogre Blade or the Sword of Anti Heroes (Depending on the army), and the rest have jobs, for example: Priest, 1st round Hatred (Rerolls to hit) and cheap prayers for combat benefits (Similar to spells!) and can channel dice! Battle Standard Bearer is a must for most Empire armies, and is generally beefed with durability (4+ Ward Saves and such), and Engineers are best for babysitting our artillery!<br /> <br /> -NOW, the odd one out for our Heroes in my opinion, the Witch Hunter, for small points, he's a bargain, 50 points for a dude who gives you MR2, is good for terror checks and can snipe some of those pesky characters! For small points where likely fireballs and offensive magic is sent, MR2 can be fun! Also he can acquire Killing Blow on a selected character, and only them, which is great with a brace of pistols, that he can Snipe with, generally fun guy!<br /> <br /> -Is there a specific type of army you are wanting? 				<description><![CDATA[ Right then...Well, let's see what ya can do!<br /> <br /> You could make a pretty darn mobile list if you did want to, with outriders for extra shots and BS4 (Awesomesauce, I need to try it myself) and Knights, since our Knights are pretty freaking awesome...Just avoid Dangerous Terrain...<br /> Issue with the Witch Hunter is...They don't get a mount option, which is horrendous! BUT, if you did opt for a moblie list of skirmishing and horses, a group of skirmishing archers to protect the flanks and sneak around to have the Witch Hunter try and pop heroes is fun, and a Ruby Ring of Ruin (Supposedly) allows a Killing Blow, but no Sniper rule, still...It's a fun magic item!<br /> <br /> The Helblaster...Great with an Engineer, however even by itself, it is still a nice addition, and at such a point cost, is pretty good! But try and scavenge up an Engineer at some point, a bare one, for the reroll and BS4! <img src="/s/i/a/baf5f2e54c6b17d5c5d39aecadfa1272.gif" border="0"> Also, ever take a wizard...For Knight armies, Celestial Wizards are great, with a spell allowing Rerolls of 1! Gave it so ya had a little more core around, but I don't know if you're a little light on numbers or not...But for 1000 points I'd say this is pretty solid, and fun to use, and mobile as well! Witch Hunter and your Wizard would go into your Archer bunker and float around, skirmish for that -1 to hit for enemy shooting on them,  and your wizard is your own choice, but for a LV2...Beasts or Fire are darn good, especially for those cheap regens you might find at this level! I gave you a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(174);'>BSB</span> since...Well, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>LD</span> rerolls are vastly important for us! We need it to keep in line! Also Outriders can vanguard and throw out a ton of shots, similar to the HBVG, so you can grind through some armour! Those extra 5 knights give you a little more meat and some good chaff! 2+ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span> with +2 Strength? 				<description><![CDATA[ Hmmm, well <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> knights still give you a 2+ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span>, and +2 strength, and are realy designed to mulch through chaff and such, since what chaff has a lot of strength to threaten that much armour? They'll just tear through, or possibly tie it up, and give you a wider threat radius, and sure thing!<br /> <br /> Total: 750! Hard choice at the end of what to remove at the end...M.Engineer or Wizard! If 1 misfire is rolled then you half the remaining shots and seeing as your <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(14);'>BS</span> 3 and long range not worth it. Having the ability to snip characters or monsters in small points is nice I.e Pegasus/doom wheel ect.<br /> <br /> Next I would drop the wizard for a warrior priest, the access to 3 battle prayers against 1 spell is to good, plus you don't miscast. Though when you give him HA and a bearded horse plus a great weapon he will be about 100pts, to get this drop talisman of preservation. Why? Shield of signature gives a 5+ ward in combat, the only thing it won't help is a life leech, but you should burn all dice to stop it anyway. <br /> <br /> Lastly run the witch hunter outside of the archers, this is not madness. He works as great chaff that will beat other chaff in an equal fight, plus it allows him to get shots off against his foe.<br /> <br /> But if anything, swap for the warrior priest, it's worth it 100% of the time.<br /> <br /> P.S if you swap for the cannon he just needs to buy the battalion box plus the characters.]]></description>
