I'm currently building a large Legionary army of the VIIth legion (Imperial Fists).

I was considering obtaining a kit of Firedrakes (Salamander terminators) and give one of their shields to a IF Terminator.

Would you consider this fluff-friendly?

The reason for this would be that said Terminator was once a regular Tactical Marine and was gifted that shield for saving a downed (but not dead) Salamander shield-wearing-Terminator using his very own shield to protect him from an attack that would for sure kill him.


Also, is there any story so far that puts both legions in the same place at the same time?

The important thing to remember about the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy period is that the legions were absolutely massive. The vast majority of them operated across hundreds if not thousands of different warzones at once, separated off into chapters, grand companies, brotherhoods, etc. Some detachment of every single legion fought alongside a detachment of every other legion.
