Daemon working for Inquisitor?

So I'm in a campaign with a group and I'm playing as the Skitarii. I've been working closely with another player who considers himself an inquisition army (inquisitor codex and tempestus only) to liberate a bunch of factories over run by orc and a few chaos. We've recently gotten to the point where we can introduce custom heros for the plot and apparently the inquisitor player thought it would be cool if in the inquisitor's retinue he had command of a straight up daemon.
Now he has explained it as, the Daemon is very much independent of the inquisitor's will, but goes along with her because it likes to see the reaction; making it very snarky and an all around ass while in the RP section of the campaign off the field of battle. It takes the form of a Tempestus Scion to not draw attention to itself, but can freely shape shift to feth with people, again, to see their reaction.

The daemon is obsessed with getting to Cadia so it can kill Abaddon, and it trying to rush this current conflict so the inquisitor can hurry up and take it there. Apparently the daemon doesn't go itself because the inquisitor has a diable style soul stone that if she crushes it, will banish it back to the warp so it plays nice when it needs to. Though the thing willingly fights chaos, xenos and other daemons it was revealed that the daemon's actual goals is to kill Abaddon so the thirteenth black crusade will dissolve and explode across the galaxy, because what it wants it to watch the galaxy burn.

Now I didn't write the character, but I'm convinced that it's a Daemon of Malice, ignoring it's name "Mal," because it's obsession during RP to cause anger and confusion in people. I've actually gotten a few subtle cues from the way the daemon talks to the inquisitor that makes me think it might even be the chaos god Malice itself.

Daemon working for Inquisitor?

It sounds pretty cool, and I would agree it sounds like a Mall daemon, which is cool because he doesn't get much love. I've read of a daemon bound in a possessed body working for an Inquisitor, and the body is covered in warding rites. On occasion the bonds will be loosened to let the daemon do daemon stuff and pound the snot out of anyone the Inquisitor is fighting, and the daemon is somewhat loyal to the Inquisitor, though if he were to be free of the rites he would almost certainly kill the Inquisitor.

Daemon working for Inquisitor?

First of all, that is not how daemons work.
Malice is dubious canon (just from a single BL novel iirc) and the single most horrible part of 40k fluff (altough that is a personal opinion of course_

In any case, Inquisitors can sometimes have a daemon working for them, but in that case they will look like this:

so that the Inquisitor can actually control it. Just having that stone is not enough because it does not stop a daamon from subtly manipulating all around it and bending them to its will. That is the most dangerous thing about daemons.
An Inquisitor having a free, uncontrolled daemon as companion is consorting with warpspawn and a very grave heresy. Said Inquisitor would be purged on sight by the first Imperial institution encountered, for he/she likely has already fallen to Chaos.

Daemon working for Inquisitor?

A radical Inquisitor might do this, but she'd certainly try to bound the daemon with more than just the stone. It's too dangerous without further restraint. What about when she has to sleep? What if the daemon manages to swipe the stone at an opportune moment? VERY risky.

I'd also note that bound daemonhosts in general aren't really known for being subservient. They obey because they have to, but constantly play mind games with their captives and seek to subvert orders for their personal benefit.

Daemon working for Inquisitor?

While it is possible, it's a very long stretch that any sane Inquisitor would allow this or trust a Daemon. There are two ways I do see this working though:

A) The Daemon is blackmailing the Inquisitor into helping it, maybe its offering to save the Inquisitors family or somthing like that. This would also give the Daemon a bit more agency so it isn't just some pet dog in disguise.

B) The Inquisitor actually thinks the Daemon is a Tempestus Scion. Bit boring but I'd say it works, providedthe Inquisitor is quite slow in the head that is.

Daemons are incredibly dangerous and manipulative, and there is no such thing as a 'good' or helpful daemon. Their true intentions are unknowable but they invariably involve claiming your soul. There simply is no way an Inquisitor would keep a daemon around without very strict and secure containment measures, and even then it remains incredibly risky. What that Inquisitor is doing is suicide (and have I already mentioned how incredibly heretical it is?), even servants of Chaos are often wary of dealing with daemons in such a direct way (Daemons don't really care about mortal loyalties, a soul is a soul.)
