Hive Fleet Behemoth + Airbrush!

Hey all, I've been getting into using my airbrush finally, but have a few questions on how to proceed. Right now I've got my Tyranid Dimachaeron base-coated Mephiston Red (skin) and Abaddon Black (carapace) using the airbrush. I read that the "official" way to paint Behemoth is base Mephiston Red -> Wash -> Mephiston Red layer -> Evil Sunz Scarlet layer -> Wild Ryder Red highlight. I guess in this case, I should wash the skin and hand paint the second Mephiston Red? It seems like a paint to have airbrushed it, wash it, and then have to go over 90% of what I just airbrushed by hand for a same color layer. Is there a way around this?

Also, should I use Nuln Oil or Carroburg Crimson for the wash? The Behemoth bundle online from GW uses Crimson but Duncan Rhode's tutorial uses Nuln Oil.

I also noticed that Garfy's Behemoth tutorial doesn't use a wash at all, and just uses one coat of Mephiston Red and moves right on to layering.

I know I'm being pretty picky, but I really want to get the exact color they get.

Thanks!!!

When you do the second coat, you want to overbrush, which uses a little more paint on the brush than drybrushing. I'm working on my Dimachaeron right now too and getting a nice #4 flat brush will help you out immensely. This is also the time you want to mix in a little bit of orange highlight the edges of vents etc.
