LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — A Leander man is facing two charges of possession of prohibited weapons after authorities searched his home early Friday.

Around 6:30 a.m. Leander police and Bureau of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a search warrant at 57-year-old Steven Aldrich’s home in the 700 block of Newcastle Lane in Leander.

On July 25, police were originally called out to the home for an explosion and when they arrived the officers actually heard another explosion. The homeowner told officers he was making homemade fireworks, according to Leander police.

The Leander SWAT team and the Austin Police Department assisted with the call.

Police say Aldrich will be charged with two counts of prohibitive weapon and one count of components of explosives.
