I was thinking about an XV8 Commander for the HQ and a basic unit of Firewarriors, then I'd probably go for either some XV8 Suits to support the commander or get a Riptide. Since I believe they are Desperate Allies, you need to stay away from them to avoid One Eye Open. Long range weaponry for the tau would be best, as the Necrons excel at midrange/close range combat.
