Personally, it's the lack of balance, consistency and general effort in the new books that bothers me, rather than the release schedule.

In terms of presentation, haven't GW been doing that for years? Dangling nice models in front of players, like tin foil in front of magpies, even while producing garbage rules to accompany said models.

I think they've been doing it ever since they started calling themselves a 'model company', and apparently decided that the 'Games' part of 'Games Workshop' was just a misprint.

Hummm... what?

Dark Angels was one of the oldest from 6th Ed. and got updated to the new format along with the popular army.

Beside CSM and Daemons/Sister there is nothing older. Everything else was updated to the nerf format of 6.5 Edition before they realised that 7ed was all about forge the narrative and make awesome fluffy formation of formation.

There were various dioramas showing factions at war, including:
- Orcs laying siege to an Empire castle
- Skaven battling Dwarves underground
- Tyranids assaulting a Space Wolf fortress
- A massive Ork assault
- Blood Angels fighting Necrons
- Tyranids fighting Eldar
- A *massive* battle between Chaos and Space Marines

Basically, they all looked amazing and like real, fluid battles. As well as being in great, active poses, there were a ton of great details - both small and large. e.g. the CSM vs SM one had two helldrakes breathing flame on the walls of a huge fortress, whilst jump pack troops did battle in the air and even jumped on their wings. The Necron one had a Monolith shooting down a Stormraven (I think) with an eldritch bolt. The SW one had a Storm Wolf being downed by a multitude of gaunts, even as its passengers jumped off and into the fray. it goes on. Honestly, it's hard to even describe the effort and without uploading pictures.

Anyway, having passed the Fantasy and various 40k rooms, we then got to the Age of Sigmar displays. There were a couple, with every model in bland, boring poses that seemed to have no relevance to their situation. it was like they'd just taken a load of models from a display cabinet and arranged them into a vague 'battle'. No interesting details, No attempt to make the models look like they were fighting. No life. Just soulless displays of the new models.
