Immortals or Deathmarks?

I'd say it depends on the squad size.

If it's a minimum 5-man squad, I'd go with deathmarks. The fact they're deepstriking makes them more likely to get benefit from their rapid fire weaponry.

Necrons also lack high str low, AP ranged weapons and while arguably synaptic desintigrators don't have high strength, they will always wound on a 4+ and sniper means they'll be AP 2 on 6's to wound.

If we're talking bigger squads, I'd opt for immortals. Big blobs of deathmarks aren't safe to deepstrike. You could put Orikan the diviner in a big blob of immortals and they'll run around the board till the end of time unless the opponent is firing a hih volume of AP3 into them.

End note: if you're facing alot of vehicles, I'd choose immortals anyway because they have acces to gauss.

Immortals or Deathmarks?

I've used deathmarks against my friends Eldar army. They're good for a one turn hit, but they get wiped out pretty hard after entering the field.

Immortals are a required unit for Decurion, so they're easy to add more to without having to buy a whole new unit, and they can be pretty versatile. Their main security comes from the opponent only seeing a troop choice, and never devoting much firepower to wipe them out.

That said, If you think your opponents will be deep striking a lot and you want to intercept their plans, go deathmarks.
They're really fun to run in a list, and they can pretty much cripple any unit or wreck any vehicle on entry, just don't expect them to last very long after that.
They will not take out a wraithknight. It just wont work. Just thought I'd add that.

Maybe another 5 so that I have the option of min troops in a non-Decurion list.

After that, I'd definitely recommend Deathmarks.

Immortals don't really have much purpose in this book. They're not awful or anything, but they don't really bring much, either. If you have the funds, Tomb Blades are basically Immortals +5.

Deathmarks at least fulfil a useful role, and are useful against MCs and GCs (something we might otherwise struggle with).
