Primarchs?

I know this has been discussed before but I could not find it in the archives so please bear with me. Are any of the primarchs still alive in the current 40K setting?

Mostly it's the chaos ones that are still alive (as Daemon Princes).

The wikipedia entry for them looks legit:

Basically, the loyalists are looking at maybe 5 (Vulkan, Leman Russ, Corax, Lion El'Jonson, and Jagatai Khan) that are still alive.

Meanwhile the Chaos forces have 6 that are known to still be alive (Magnus, Angron, Lorgar, Mortarion, Fulgrim, and Perturabo), with Alpharius being a possibly 7th given the battle report where he supposedly dies is suspect.

Supposedly, there's signs of Roboute Guilliman coming back, healing inside the stasis pod. That's supposed to be impossible, but he IS a Primarch; impossible was what they did.

he was poisened by a Slannesh-Champion-Demon-Sword...-Thingy. and the Poison was SO bad that Stasis was the only way.
the Traitor Legion Primarchs are sitting on their Demonworlds. and the loyal ones who are still alive are just gone. Leman Russ left, saying he would return in a time of crisis, the Ravenguard Chief left with the words "nevermore" and Lion El'Johnson was taken away by those funny little nightwatch guys, like the one who's carrying Azraels Helmet. don't know too much about the other ones, but I think Rogal Dorn is dead. and, of course Sanguinius is dead.

and altough I don't play Space Marines, I would love to see those guys return. for the fluff and the rules

Guilliman wasn't poisoned by a "Slannesh-Champion-Demon-Sword...-Thingy" ... His throat was slit by Fulgrim, the primarch of the Emperor's Children, with a poisoned blade.

so Jaghati khan bein still alive is doubtful/or if he is still there.

Rogal dorn is proper dead I can't see anyway out of it....

Curze Is my favorite Primach apart from some of emoness..

Alpharius is also dead I think it was from the Alpha Legion Index astartes.

For an idea on Primarchs in the game, try and get your hands on a copy of 2nd edition Codex Chaos and check out the daemon princes. Of course, characters comletely dominated 2nd edition (or rather, vortex grendes dominated...) but the fact that they were the only models in the game with stats over 10 gives a pretty good indication of what primarchs might be like.

just read that wiki article. very interesting "facts". besides Ferrus Manus most of the loyal Primarchs seem very likely to return someday.
personally I would love to see this. sort of: Warhammer 41k.
and what is it with the Eye of Terror. I allways thought it was more like a small part of the warp. but preety much all the Chaos Primarchs live there. I mean, how does this work? "hey Fulgrim, can I borrow some sugar?" "sure Mortarion. so, Poker on sunday?"

All the Chaos Primarchs live in the Eye of Terror because it is an area of space in which realspace and the warp overlap with each other. Physical beings cannot exist entirely in the warp without protection, the energy simply rips them apart, so the Chaos Primarchs command worlds in the Eye of Terror because they can exist there, but still command the power of Chaos to shape the worlds in the Eye as they see fit.

There's alot of "immortal" stuff in 40k... generally it's used in the sense of Tolkien's Elves. They live forever and cannot be killed by natural causes, but a bolter round in the brain tends to be terminal for everyone.

Honestly, I don't get the whole Vin Diesel thing. He's not a patch on Chuck Norris, who is possibly one of the missing Primarchs. It's just as well he was never rediscovered, as when the Heresy began he would have roundhouse kicked all the Traitor Legions into oblivion, leaving the whole 40k game rather pointless.

Like someone else mentioned, having a stat line past 10, yeah that would make someone as close to immortal and / or godlike as possible in 40k. Hell, they do give gods stats. Also, if an avatar of a god (a great bloodthirster) can be beaten by a primarch, well yeah. Was it Sanguinious(sp?) that sunk the Greater Bloodthirster? By greater I mean the forgeworld rendition of the beast. This was explained to me by one of the gw employees, so it could all be a crock of poo.

it is a crack of poo, never belive GW staff they make up things just for fun, actually Sanguinius did fight the Bloodthirter but got stunned by him and saw the bloodthirster standing over him. so sang said to him cmon lets ave it (not actual quote but similer) and the bloodthirster said i will let you live manling and your legs will heal but this wound will always fester. so then the bloodthirster runs or flys off but not before killing 500 bloodangles along his path, the sudden seath of so many of his kids knocks sanguinius unconcious. the blood thirters name was KA'BANDHA i think.

On another note space marines and Primarchs are not immortal, they can live for a long time as they age very slowly and possibly would not die due to old age, but immortal they aint as a bolter round to the head can kill them, space marines are meant to die in combat not retire. if they were allowed to retire they could theoreticcally live on for ever.

RUSS WILL RETURN, i have his word on it, So will a few of the others, remember if the kill aint confirmed it aint a kill. and Robute Guillimen is slowly getting better, his throat is slowly healing, well that what an Ultramarine told me, and they dont lie,

i said that the throat thing is what ultramarines belive, its what they say and hope. the thing with stasis fields is that it slows time down so much that like 1000 years can pass outside but in the stasis field only a milli second would have passed so its not like Guillaman is frozen, he is still there alive but if they remove the field he will pobviosly die. what they claim in one of the urial ventris books is that people say it is healing due to the fact that time still moves in the stasis field. does my answer become correct cos its in a book??

as for the emporer he was wounded to badly that his pysical body is gone only his conscious is there, the golden throne is different i think to guillamans stasis field, i think

who knows its a miracle. hhe will live soon, and then we can use stat 10 things again, hurrah, everybody should log onto forge world website and under the miniture you would most like to see built everybody should put down primarch, flood forge world with request for models that people actually want. not crap roads and not a building that costs the same as an average players whole army.

Immortal and indestrucable are two distinct and different qualities! A Space Marine or Primarch could be in scientific terms Immortal, and still have the ability to die by mis-deed!

The reason the SM's in the HH books are said to be immortal is that none if them have yet died of age. They hadn't been in existence for long enough for anybody to make observations. Otherwise, there probably would be a few (very few) loyal SM's from the crusade still around. Death isn't particularly selective, and in combat you're just as likely to take a bullet on your first mission as somebody on their 100th.

And I can't see the Primarch's returning. The Gulliman thing is a legend within the game, not a piece of 'factual' fluff, and the Primarch's who said they'd return were probably posturing. It's not like saying "I'm just popping to the loo, I'll be back now".

On another note with the Legions, why do the SW and DA still have enmity toward each other, when Russ supposedly left to search for his lost friend Lion El'Johnson (it still makes me cringe to use that name)?

I imagine that's because he didn't.

EDIT: no one knows where he went, he just upped and left. Though, I would guess that going to look for Lionel 'Sucker punch" El'Johnson probably wasn't at the top of his list of things to do.

But if you started playing with rouge trader like I did then you know that Rogal Dorn died of old age. 1500 years old to be exactish [if you can be exact-ish] - I can't find that white dwarf right now. [It was mid second edition.]

They said his skeleton was entombed in the 'hall of heroes' in The Emperor's Palace on Terra for all to see. Some sort of plexiglass construct like when you view really old gak at the English Natural History musium.

However this has been Retcon'd out of the the world and now Dorn died or 'dissappeared' when he swung his ship around to stop a chaos fleet from killing everything. [Cos last stands are cool.] Only his hands were found. Which, if he lived through that I don't see how useful he would actually be to anyone seeing as he's now a nubby Primarch. He can't pick anything up and he can't point effectively. But pay attention to GW fluff at your own risk. It's either really badly written or contradicts itself all the time....

Hmmm... I guess GW and the Bible have something in common after all. Crazy game store guy was right.

If you had read the whole article, you would know that the evidence that portrays his death is viewed as highly suspect. Even the Ultramarines dispute it, and portrays their Primarch quite favourably.

We just don't know for certain.

Or he could be off in the warp somewhere tryin to whip his 13th legion back into line, I could easilly see gw pulling a cheap shot like that halfway through a campaign to give the Imperium a win (release new models including a Russ model halfway through a summer tourny claiming that Russ came back just like he said he would (he didnt leave like Foxys fosterdad))

On another note, any of the questionable primarchs return would be pretty schweet, specially seeing as most of the mia primarchs would be returning from the warp (presumably) and would have some pretty freaky new skilz as a result

Leman Russ left to look for the Lion as they had made up post-Heresy. They actually fought again and the Lion stabbed him with a chainsword. While Russ was recovering the Lion apologized and the two swore to not fight anymore. Some time later the Lion left for Caliban.

If the Fallen DA can still live in the 41st millenium, eventhough they lived while "Russ was still walking under the stars", they need to be 10 000 years old, which would fit the "primarchs and first generation space marines were immortal" hypothesis. It's hard to believe that a Primarch wouldn't outlive a Fallen.

Also, reading the fluff and seeing my primarch heroes fall one by one is kind of tragic. 40k ruined my tender soul! The only thing that makes me cling on to 40k is the possibility of my favorite hero still being alive.

In one version of fluff, the Fallen were dropped through time and space via warp rifts. So they're around in the 41st milleu, but not necessarily 10,000 years old.

First generation can't be immortal, only Bjorn is from the time of the Heresy, and he's intombed.

Yea some people say Cypher is Lionel himself in disguise, preparing for the ascendance of the emperor. Basically he believes that the way to best help the imperium right now would be to kill the emperor, and free his spirit. he would then be born again in the warp as the star child, becoming the next chaos god, and whoop some serious @$$ on those other pansy gods in the warp.

some other people think that Cypher is that guy (name i forgot) who fought Lionel, and big bad lion man is in the center of "the rock" the ark angel planet and all. but i like the first story much better

Those who say he is the lion in disguise would be wrong as actual fluff states he is in the rock and only the emp knows about that. as for cyper being the guy that fought him on caliban, well thats luthor and he is in the rock as well, once again proven fluff not thoery.

As for bjorn being the only good guy alive from the heresy time well thats due to him being in a dred and also time flows differently in the warp. Marines dont die of old age they die through battle. Thereis no way to disprove that a marine cant live for 10,000 years. Obvi

There actually are a few SM's from the crusades still around. They are, however, in dreadnoughts..... anyone remember the guys name? And the DA and SW have enmity towards eachother still because they are like children, each one thinking that their "dad" is better than the other.

Cuz I'm a smooth mutha F***** who loves the p****, and I b**** slapped the other primarchs.

Actually it's because Khorne is the only chaos god who needs battles as a sign of worship. Nurgle worshippers can just sit around..... eventually people are going to die and rot. Tzeentch worshippers just spend their time plotting. Slaneesh worshippers just have to do the hibbidy dibbidy..... only followers of khorne actually have to get up and go do something.

DA and SW don't like each other cos of a story in the DA codex, they had a fight without weapons, just fists (morons) because Johnson killed someone Russ wanted to and being Space marine Primarchs they were to stupid, stubborn etc to make up.

Alpharius dying is interesting as he had a twin, so it could have been either that died when Alpharius suposidly did

The reason that the Space Wolves and the DA still hate each other is because the SW think that Lion Sucker punched Russ while he was laughing at the thought of themselves fighting eachother. Just the thing I could see Russ getting himself into....

As for the Angron thing, I beleive the rest of the Primarchs where banished from normal space. Seeing as in the Grey Hunter book Ragnar uses the spear of Russ to Stop Magnus from being free to walk the galaxy again. And Angron had the luck to be excercised by the enitre first company of Grey Knights during the first Armegeddon War. (Apparently they can stop him and a dozen Greater Bloodthirsters...)
