Speculation: Tau Campaign

I am really glad with how this new campaign with the Tau is shaping up. Particularly the fact that it's a continuation of the story they ended with the Apocalypse Warzone Damocles. One of the great things about the Tau is that in order to explain all of these new units and weapon systems they've always been almost forced to advance the plot and since they have something of a narrative focus aroun the Third Sphere Expansion and Shadowsun it all fits together quite nicely.

Btw in case people are thinking it, they've went to quite some effort to stress that this is a continuation of the story. For example the Stormsurge is said to have sprang up due to heavy counter assault elements in what has become a protracted war. Which makes sense considering how the Knights so badly beat the tau in the last Damocles book. So no I don't think it's a rehash or elaboration of the events at Agrellen or Voltoris.

But anyway, way they left things off with Shadowsun beaten and according to the guard codex a big counter assault force I really hope they actually make the tau the protagonists this time. Hear me out, the way the last two campaigns have went has been a little bit samey. Imperium loses then space marines swoop in and save day. Plus it's more or less what happened in the last Damocles book. Be a bit mean for Shadowsun to almost her killed and then lose again.

I think they've mentioned that the new campaign is set on a world called Perfectia and we know the Raven Guard are involved. What I think is happening is that the Tau have lured the Imperiums counter assault armies into an un winnable war, a salient into which they ll be whittled down and then beaten. Personally I think they would have picked the White Scars if we had Imperial protagonists. The raven guard in Damocles are kind of portrayed as Contra death squads rather than heroes. So I think Shadowsun is going to bounce back after Voltoris and that ultimately the Imperium will lose badly.

Also: you know what both campaign books are going to be called.

1. Patient Hunter

2. Killing Blow

Or, I don't know. Khorne demon kin show up and they have to unite. :(
