While not an apocalypse, I also relish the idea of some kind of global upheaval that reduced the 1-percenters down to the level of the rest of us when their money can no longer save them, and maybe then humanity can start to get over its greed and nonchalance towards the suffering of those with nothing.

If the apocalypse happens and people do their best to help each other and rebuild, that's good. If your apocalypse happens and a nasty sort uses the opportunity to gain and abuse power, but we focus on those that retain hope for better times that's OK. If your apocalypse happens and it's just and endless stream of people being nasty to each other under the guise of survival, then count me out.

If we must judge an apocalypse by how it happens I like aliens, natural disaster or a total mystery. I could go my entire life and never see a single thing zombie-related again and be totally happy.
