Lootas are good option as they provide some ranged fire support and can help with taking down medium AV targets.

You mentioned running more walkers which honestly is a bit of an all or nothing tactic. If your ever given a choice between a Big Shoota or a Rokkit you take the Rokkit. Actually, what I've been using are great. I haven't really had to do much conversions to them.
