Do they actually produce thrust and energy or do they just jump/beam/transport matter across space at sub-luminal speeds? I'd like to try to use them to stop a planets rotation.

Also, do Tau Railguns work with magents that greatly accelerate solid slugs or is it another mechanic that is supposedly behind it?
