Comp systems are inherently bad for the game. They don't solve any of the underlying fundamental problems of the game, and just put a new metagame of beating the comp system on top of the standard game. <br /> <br /> As an example, take the system detailed in the article: <br /> <br /> What happens if you get a "3" on the comp score? Are you kicked out for being a cheesemonger? Do you get extra points for bringing a "1" list? <br /> <br /> If you take a formation, you are penalized twice, as unless you are in a Decurion Formations are Detachments. Heaven help you if you take two duplicate formations; you're penalized four times as much! <br /> <br /> You get comped if you have access to Telepathy. Never mind Invisibility; Psychic Shriek is just broken! <br /> <br /> Have a named character? You get penalized just as much as if you brought a Gargantuan Creature or Superheavy. <br /> <br /> Cast Iron Arm on a biker or other T5 character? Congratulations; have a comp point. <br /> <br /> Deep Striking is clearly the most overpowered of all deployment methods. Terminators are even more useless. <br /> <br /> Don't play Dark Eldar. Seriously, just don't. You can't win or make a decent list at all under this system. <br /> <br /> If you have any good ways of breaking the comp system in the article, feel free to post them. Comp: Not Even Once. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Wow, I lost 1.5 points on that scale with my fluff Eldar army.  I'm assuming that I didn't lose any points for the Craftworld Warhost as every unit falls within its restrictions, thus counting as one special detachment.<br /> <br /> Craftworld Warhost<br /> -Guardian Warhost<br /> -3 x 10 Guardians <br /> -2 x 1 War Walker <br /> -1 x 1 Vyper<br /> -1 x 1 Vaul's Wraith (D-Cannon)<br /> <br /> -Aspect Host<br /> -1 x 4 Dark Reapers<br /> -1 x 10 Warp Spiders<br /> -1 x 10 Fire Dragons w/ Wave Serpent<br /> <br /> -Legend of the Craftworld<br /> -1 x 1 Avatar<br /> <br /> -Wraith Construct<br /> -1 x 1 Wraithknight (without D <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>Str</span> Shooting, but has Stomp which seems to get a points reduction)<br /> <br /> For the fluff, I get a full 6" Run move across the army which grants me a lot of tactical flexibility, which has proven tons more useful than my 1 D-Cannon.<br /> <br /> My Ravenguard appears to get a 2.75 under this system. (I've left out various wargear on this list as it has no bearing on the comp system)<br /> <br /> Talon Strike Forces<br /> -Pinion Demi Company<br /> -1 x 1 Chaplain<br /> -3 x 5 Tactical Marines<br /> -1 x 5 Assault Marines<br /> -1 x 5 Devastator Marines<br /> -1 x 5 Scouts<br /> -2 x 3 Scout Bikers (locator beacons)<br /> <br /> Strikeforce<br /> -2 x 5 Scouts<br /> -1 x 5 Vanguard Veterans<br /> <br /> Skyhammer Annihilation Force (Formation)<br /> -2 x 10 Assault Marines<br /> -2 x 5 Devastator Marines<br /> -2 x 1 Drop Pods<br /> <br /> No spammed Grav weapons, no <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>STR</span> D, but Ignore Cover Devastator squad in the Talon Strike Force and massed turn 1 no scatter deep strike and assault. And with Ravenguard rules, the chances of going first and getting the alpha strike is fairly high.<br /> <br /> I can appreciate folks trying to create and environment in which folks will have more fun, but this comp concept does not seem to hit the mark.  Playing against a massed turn 1 assault army does not seem to give my opponents a more enjoyable game than my non Jetbike, non Psyker heavy, little D <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>STR</span> Eldar army. ]]></description>
