Multi-chapter tactic army

I recently played a friend and I tried out some new tactics with my Space marines. Turns out that you can have a different chapter tactic for your army depending on formation and or detachment. Below is the list that I brought to the party.

Strike force command (Black Templar chapter tactic)
Captain with relic blade, digital weapons, plasma pistol, and Shield of Eternal
Command squad Banner, Apothecary, Company champion with power lance. Drop pod with death wind missile launcher and locator beacon.

1st Company task force (Imperial fist chapter tactics)
3x 10 squads of Sternguard. Sgt power lance, melta bomb. Flamethrower. Each squad has a drop pod with death wind missile launcher on it and locator beacon.
1x 5 man sternguard squad. Sgt Power lance, and melta bomb.
1x 5 man Terminator squad

Allie detachment (Not completely sure if this would be a legal build, but the game was for fun?) (Ultramarine chapter tactics)
Terminator Chaplin
Ironclad dreadnought in drop pod with Assault launchers.
5 man combat squad with missile launcher
Thunderfire cannon
Stormtalon

The list played like a champ. Ending the game at the bottom of turn 4 against a Khorn deamonkin army. I did not have a huge board presences at the beginning of the game, but with 5 drop pods, get 3 of them on my first turn, made quick work of that. I was able to drop 2 sterngaurd squads and the Ironclad behind the Khorn deamonkin army's front line. Rapid fire hellfire rounds, rerolling 1's from chapter tactics, made quick work of 2 units of blood letters and the Ironclad rapid fired his hurricane bolter and heavy flamer in a cultist blob.

Swapping basic marines for Sternguard seems to pay off for tactical flexibility. Mobility is a bit of an issue, but basically boxing the khorn army in work pretty good. The only thing i'm not a 100% sure about is the allied detachment. Basically took it so I could get some of my other marine units in the game. Thoughts?

Your Allied Detachment is fine; the usual disallowance is that Allied Detachments can't be from the same Faction as the Primary Detachment, but Space Marines have a specific rule allowing them do to so, as long as the Allied Detachment is chosen with a different Chapter Tactics than the Primary Detachment.

The rule is located in the Chapter Tactics section of the Codex, if you need to locate it for reference.

MadCamel wrote:
The Allied Detachment is fine. The "non-Dataslate" Formation entries for each Decurion-style formation are in sort of a gray area as far as whether or not they can be added on outside of their parent formation. The relevant line is copy/pasted into the rules outlining each Decurion formation:

Note that you can also include any of the formations presented in this section as part of a Battle-forged army.

Which then goes onto list all the legal Formations that fit into the Decurion, including the non-Dataslate ones, such as the Command options. Realistically, the only difference between things like the non-Dataslate "Command" options and the more 'normal' Decurion Formations is that the non-Dataslate ones don't get free bonus special rules, so it's hardly a huge concern.

As far as this guy's fun games against his friend, he's probably fine.
