How best to run imperial Knights at 2000 points.

So I've started playing imperial Knights. I'm enjoying them. I bought them as I love the models. But I did think they'd be an easy point and shoot army to use. It turns out that they're more fragile than I first thought if not used correctly. And it's been a steep learning curve.

So, I've been wondering how people run them and what formations they use. I've got an errant with storm spear rockets. A crusader with battle cannon, and Icarus autocannons and a third one where by I haven't built the arms yet and so am not sure what direction to go in. Ive tried a few and I think the warden is my favourite for the third. I've been running them as a household detachment for obsec, as I think the baronial court is too restrictive.

I was thinking about adding in ad mech to go to 2 thousand. But I don't know if that's just a point sink and they won't offer me much. I could push to 4 Knights and maybe ally in some assassins or something. How do people make them work?

The Exalted Court of House Terryn is pretty slick too, but it doesn't leave much room for extras at 1960 pts minimum (I think).

It's better at the 2500 pts list.

It's also pretty fly to take 1500 pts Baronial Court and just throw Gerantius in there as a allied detachment.

Interesting that everyone is pointing towards the baronial court. I genuinely thought it was the weaker choice. Sure you get a better ion shield, but it pushes you too keeping all your Knights really close together. Is this not surely a bad tactic for them? I would have thought that spreading them out was more effective. And that having obsec was too good to turn down.

As for points, I like to fully load my Knights. So I won't ever get more than 4 in at 2k. I'll have points left over. So what's the best idea? I was tempted with a vindicare and a culexus assassin.

I've been toying around with the idea of running a 3-knight Household or Baronial Court alongside two Raptor Wing formations with typhoons. Household might be the better choice for that with the lack of boots on the ground, but the Baronial bonuses are nice. And as far as Baronial goes, you don't HAVE to keep them all clumped together.

Well, I know you don't have to. But the formation seems pretty pointless if you don't. Since the only real bonus comes from them being clumped together.
