Generally you want to hit them with sheer volume of fire from medium/high strength weapons. If you kit out your wave serpent with a scatter laser and shuriken cannon you will have seven twin linked S6 shots at it, and potentially 1d6+1 twin linked S7 shots as well. Outside of some truely epicly bad rolling, you should be popping light tanks like that almost every time with that load out

How do you get seven twin linked S6 shots?
And how do you get the 1d6+1 S7 shots?

The Serpent Shield now fires 2D6 S6 Ignores Cover shots at 24 inches once per game. Scatter Lasers used to give twin-linked to anything fired from that model afterwards. That was in the old codex, and is not in the latest codex.

The 1D6+1 is the amount of shots a WS shield used to be able to fire.
Again, this is in the previous codex, and not the latest version.
